This Would Make a Great Facility for The Showboat Drive-In

Alas, it's yet another Villarreal brother production. Should be able to keep us up to date on this one, Frog. Surprised neither of us have run across this move until now. Almost flew under the radar...

This translator would get absolutely pulverized by KFNC. Perhaps the Villarreals should talk to the operators of KOYM to hear a real world example.

Speaking of the Showboat Theatre, wonder how far their signals on 98.1 and 98.9 travel? Guessing IBOC from KBXX and KODA would severely limit the range.

Surprisingly enough, 98-1 reaches around 1/8 mile. 98-9 isn't really listenable within eyesight of the front screen. Not sure why there's a discrepancy between the two, other than varying broadcasting equipment being used.

That'll be a waste of electricity and source of frustration for anyone who knows about it. As a side note, several times a year, I drive through the area where it came from, and have never heard it on the air, not to mention there isn't 500 people living in the former coverage area.

Purple, Not familiar with Drive in broadcasting, are they licensed, license free like a part 15, seems like they would need more than a fraction of a watt to have a reasonable assurance most all of the cars could receive a good signal given the wide differences in receiver performance. I am amazed how bad the sensitivity is on some car radios, but when most of the time they are listing to 100 KW stations on the 2000 ft towers You don't need a very sensitivity receiver and un less you are trying to listen to a low power or fringe station You never know the difference. If HD were more common seems like it would be ideal aside from cost, for multi screen Drive ins.

They use the "leaky coax" method. Coax throughout the property which radiates a tiny bit of signal.

Thanks FRANK:cool: We used that at HPD for tunnel coverage with Police radios, and that method would help with DEAF car radios.
