I'm hearing him fill in live for Sam Seder on the Majority report tonight, does that mean he has done 9 hours of radio today? (Local morning 6-9 on the West Coast, Noon-3 EST and now tonight 7-10 EST)

I dont know if he skipped one of the earlier in the day, if not thats quite alot. He seems to be up to it though, he has alot to talk about.

Yup. I listened to his KPOJ show at work today, and downloaded (and edited out the commercials from, for later listening) the podcast of his syndicated show earlier this evening -- he did them both live.

Fortunately, the time difference between West and East coasts worked in his favor (and it was all over by 7:00 pm his time). AAR is certainly giving him lots of exposure.

Thom is definitely the pinch hitter at AAR, although this morning I heard Malloy filling in for Springer. As far as I'm concerned, Thom's Portland show is a better listen than Springer even with Malloy as a fill-in.

The fact that Franken is solidly entrenched in the same slot as Thom's national show has gotten some attention. I spoke recently with some people at our local AAR station and they mentioned the conflict it has caused them. They seemed to think the best thing for Franken to do is run for Senator.<P ID="signature">______________

I was just wondering why we don't get to hear him in the Boston area as well? Here is my idea: WKOX and WXKS shouldn't always simulcast. Play Hartmann on one station and Franken on the other. Play Rhodes on one station and Schultz on the other. Play Springer on one station and Miller on the other. Then at night, mornings and weekends you simulcast AAR as is (I am really missing Majority Report BTW). Right now there is so much signal overlap during the day that you basically make your choice of frequencies- you might bring in a few more listeners if you use both signals.
 
If the two stations simulcast, why doesn't Arbitron list them together (as WKOX/WXKS*)? Currently WXKS is still shown as adult standards. Once Clear Channel gets Arbitron to update the listing, the audience numbers for the two can be combined into one overall listing. However, even so, their 12+ AQH will still be a fraction - a bigger fraction but still a fraction.

Hartmann and Majority Report are both streamed online.

Franken is talking about running for the senate in 2008 -- three years from now. And he's been quoted as saying that even if he runs, he may continue to do his radio show (his Minnesota stations could then run Hartmann as a replacement while Franken continued on the rest of the network's affiliates). And from what I hear, Franken probably couldn't even get the Democratic nomination, which is usually decided at a party convention.
