Those ad's do not pertain to us Rockers.

Have you been hearing those ad's, where there is a baseball game in progress and just when it becomes exciting, you hear an operator say, "please deposit 25 cents for the next three minutes". After this, the typical, deep male voice says something like, "radio should be free, why pay for something that should be free, et al". That is OK, if you enjoy Urban and Spanish formats, which saturate the dial, they surely are not talking to people who like any form of Rock or Country Classics, which is being eliminated from the airwaves. To hear any form of Rock, Standards or Country Classics, plus Real oldies, you need to go satellite. A service as poor as MC, has good Rock formats. So why are they wasting their time with this stupid commercial. The CC stations are promoting it the most.

The most ironic thing is that it could potentially run in the same stop set as an XM spot.

The point of the ad isn't to stop EVERYBODY from going to satellite, only a select demo. Terrestrial radio isn't interested in holding on to the folks that listen to Rock, Standards, Country or Oldies (older people and skewing male). Terrestrial radio is really only interested in holding on to the demos that listen to CHR, AC & urban (skewing cosmopolitan female, the way ad agencies like it -- and CC's bread and butter!). In other words, terr. radio knows it can't win so it's trying to keep from losing too much.

Heard that in CT the other day.

Spanish formats saturate the dial in Philly? Are you kidding me?
