Those pesky FM Transmitters

I was on the middle of Oneida lake yesterday and holy s#@t there were a lot of pirate stations on. All down at the lower end of the dial but it was kind of cool. One guy was on the air while he was on his lawn tractor.
These little chineese 15 watt transmitters are a bit more than youre hooking to an Ipod these days. I wonder when someone will start say....interrupting a location broadcast. I would never break the law like that but it would be funny. It could actually cause quite a problem if per say....someone hooked one up and blew out 93.1 during baloon fest on the grounds. These adjustable 15 watt fm transmitters are 30 bucks! Any thoughts?

Sure, but do you get what it means from an engineering point of view? :ie here is a good tip for the engineers at 94.5 . Your signal dies when you go south on route 12 in Oneida. 93.1 is gangbusters and 94.5 doesnt even show up. Its my crappy factory Kia radio but there are a lot of us driving crappy Hyundais these days. Interference has got to be an engineering nightmare with these types of transmitters readily available on Ebay.

Someone could walk downtown with one of these and play Chipmunk Music on 99.1 and 99.5, right while everyone is paying attention to Gomez announcing a winner at the inner harbor LOL. You gotta laugh at that. Well, you may not but I would be doubled over if I saw that, drinkin a beer on my boat.

Gee, why not just give some moron directions on how to illegally interfere with a broadcast, violating a FEDERAL law and subjecting them to a fine of up to $375,000?

And you call yourself a "broadcaster". Nice. I hope you send your $200 to Shanghai. Let's see what you get in return.

No honey, Im just a wacko x broadcaster that is helping your engineers prep for the future. Im not selling these toys and if you read my first post on this topic, I am not the only one spreading the word. Can you get to the middle of Oneida Lake? Does everyone transmit digital FM or are we waiting for broadband to get into cars? Im guessing your analog signals arent going to be too useful pretty soon. Better get out your checkbooks.

Take a seat in the timeout chair. First, what you propose is illegal; second, outside of a 300 foot radius, 15 watts ain't gonna do much against 93Q's 97kW; third, pirates are hacks. There's maybe 1 good one out of every 50. 'Course, some might argue the same's true for commercial broadcasters these days... Citadel, for example. That 4 cent share price is a hoot. If that isn't a zombie company, don't know what is.
