I think the current situation at Citadel can be boiled down to this: they are a medium market company trying to operate big-time, large market stations as if they are in medium markets.
Let's face it- Citadel is NOT ABC, pt. deux. I thought the day they announced they were buying ABC several years ago it was a bad fit and the news of the past few days confirms it. Why else, for instance, would they have an oldies station in the #3 market (Chicago) use the Real Oldies Channel off the bird? Medium market solution for a major market situation; they just repeated that in Baltimore.
They simply bit off more than they could chew.
