Thoughts Of/Prayers For New Orleans

As a native New Orleanian, I can't help but fear for the city of my birth and my ancestors since the mid-1700's because of Katrina. Even though I live far away now, my heart will always be there...as are my thoughts and prayers.

Here's one man's simple prayer for this beautiful city and her wonderful people: be safe, help each other and keep the faith.

And, a double-dose of "gris-gris" on any idiot who tries to make a direct correlation on the fun of the French Quarter and "God's retribution for having that fun." May Marie LaVeau infest his privates with mudbugs! :)

Bartender! Another round of Hurricanes from Pat O's for my friends to wash down a fistful of "Lucky Dogs" from that cart at the corner of Bourbon and St. Peter! Then, maybe a visit down to Esplanade to the "Port O' Call" restaurant for some gourmet burgers while the best jukebox anywhere pumps out the hits!

God bless ya, N'Awlins...you're one of a kind.

I live in Philly and have no connection whatsoever to N'awlins (other than hoping to check out Mardi Gras or JazzFest one of these years). But, as a weather junkie....this one's a WHOPPER! No cheese, all meat. They say it's gonna rival Camille. When Jim Cantore from the Weather Channel gets on camera and says "take a lokk around here because most of these buildings probably won't be standing when we return", you KNOW it's s*** a brick time.

Trust me folks, this is gonna be uglier than the thought of Rosie O'Donnell naked. Seriously, if you're still reading this from NO and plan to ride the storm out....YOU AINT GONNA MAKE IT! I'm sorry...with a city below sea level and the magnitude of this storm, you'd have to be nucking futs to ride this out.

With that being said, those of us in supposedly The City that doesn't care, Philly...sure, we throw snowballs at Santa Claus...are saying a prayer for our brethern and sistern in the Big (this storm is gonna be far from) Easy.

We're supposed to be vacationing there in two weeks.

I hope there's something left for us to visit.

Meanwhile, those in the city who haven't left yet need to get the heck out.
______________

I have a friend who lives in Slidell, about 30 miles from New Orleans. She evacuated to Texas this morning. I hope that Katrina doesn't cause much damage.
______________

We are on the very edge of this but superdome is refuge of last resort..Martial law is supposed to start in New Orleans at 5pm Sunday and agressive force will be used as needed (which they didn't elaborate about)

Told the cell phones are already useless due to too many trying to call others

Roads all jammed up getting out of town now. Basically all commercial stations in New Orleans running hurricane coverage right now.

But I agree, Please Lord,Please bless us all.....

I also live near Philly, and have no connection with New Orleans, but I have been there a couple times. It is without a doubt the greatest city in The US. I would love to someday live there full time. It is so depressing to watch the weather people on tv tell us what might happen. My prayers are with everyone down there right now, and I hope this thing weakens and misses New Orleans. I will be down for new years no matter what. Peace

Was in the biz in Charleston, SC on Sept. 21, 1989, when Hugo blew through. Our prayers are with you all in Louisiana. Also, be ready -- chances are, radio's going to be the only media outlet up and running after the storm. Even if there's television, most folks won't have the means (power or equipment) to watch it. The community is going to be looking to radio to coordinate and disburse information, and to rally everyone in the aftermath.

God bless and take care.

Ditto. Here's sincerely hoping Katrina & The Waves stay away from your great city and you'll all be "Walking on Sunshine" instead on Monday.
