Thoughts on 93.3 The Wolf

Anyone have any thoughts on the new 93.3 The Wolf in Huntsville? How do they compair to WDRM and do you think they are better, worse or just the same ol' same ol'? I don't listen to much country music but from what I have heard, the station doesn't sound too special. The signal is good though, now that it's broadcasting from it's new tower site in Huntsville. They are really going to have to come with a special and unique sound to beat WDRM because the "cookie cutter" (as many people like to refer to it as) way of doing things isn't gonna beat 102.1.

I haven't listen to this new station yet. However I did see a tv commercial some weeks back saying that every hour they play 40 minutes of music. Now, I'm not sure how much the other country stations play every hour but if the others play more than 40 minutes, the Wolf is going to have to do much better than that to survive.

In The Wolf's defense, the 40 minute music sweeps are longer than the music sweeps on WDRM from what I know. That is one good thing. They are going to need very entertaining jocks and unique show elements as well as great music programming on top of that. They are still very new though so I'm sure they are still building.

I think the station sounds good but they'll need better service elements. If I'm looking for information while listening to country I'll go to DRM every time. Their music is good but I still prefer DRM because I like their mix a little better. The Wolf does play more music per hour but when DRM is out of their stopset I'll go back every time. Just a few outsider thoughts!!! ;D

I'm out of market.

Has the Wolf found a morning show yet?

Curious

Todd Baker, formerly of the KKGO ("Go Country 105") afternoon shift is reported to be headed there.

You folks are lucky to be getting Todd. He was my absolute favorite on KKGO until he was inexplicably axed. I support local country here in LA but I've marked the Wolf stream for listening now.

They should have just made the Wolf a classic country format.

I hate to say it (because I HATE that format) but that idea isn't too far fetched. Look at 105.7 WQAH in Addison. Their rimshot signal is terrible in Huntsville but they are consistantly in the top 10 in the ratings. Just look at the winter phase 2 numbers! They are number 5! Now granted they must have got lucky on some book placement because that isn't the norm for them; they usually bring up the rear of the top 10, but what if a classic country station was on a good signal like 93.3? I would imagine it would do very well seeing as how WQAH does well with the bad signal they have now. That sure would put a dent in WDRM's numbers too.
