Thoughts on Flash Forward

Did anyone watch last night's premiere of Flash Forward? What did you think? Could it be a hit?

I have to admit it's been a long time since there was a network show I watched on a regular basis, but the premise of Flash Forward caught my attention. It took about 25 minutes for me to sort out all the characters and figure out what's going on. But I stuck with it. Obviously the plot will center around the identification of the shadowy figure walking in the stands at a Detroit Tigers baseball game while the rest of the world was off in la-la land.

I'm undecided... I'll probably watch it again, but it may get a little stale week after week knowing there won't be a resolution until the end of the season... and that's no guarantee since shows like that end their seasons with cliffhangers. I think it would have made a great miniseries instead.
 
I think this is based on a science fiction book from a number of years ago. I cannot remember the name of it mainly cause I was at the library looking at it and it didn't seem to be very interesting. But this show seems to be interesting although I haven't watched it yet. I'll have to do it online seeing as how they screwed up TV with this digital crap and I can no longer pick up our local channels.
 
I liked it. I don't mean I enjoyed it but I'm interested enough to watch again. I could have done without the degree of violence. I didn't consider that cars would keep moving and planes would crash. That seems kind of extreme. But they're kind of focusing on the less terrible stuff.

On the subject of digital TV, I had no problems.
 
Did anyone notice the Oceanic airlines billboard in the opening scenes?
 
I noticed the Oceanic billboard in the background too during one scene. The show has it's resemblences to "Lost." Aren't some of the actors the same? (I'm not good with actors). ABC is looking for another hit show like "Lost" since it's gonna be in it's final season.
 
Dominic Monaghan is the only "Lost" cast member in "Flash Forward" as far as I can tell. He played Charlie (the cocaine addicted rock musician) on "Lost". I just got done watching this about a week after the fact but I really enjoyed. I'm just annoyed now that I missed the "Oceanic Airline" billboards at the beginning. This show might just be the "Lost" replacement I was looking for.

Sonya Walger (who played Desmond's wife on Lost) is on the show also.
 
Reminded me a bit of The 4400. Since I was a major fan of The 4400, I enjoyed it and will watch again.

To me FF seemed just like the opening episode of Lost (never was a show so perfectly named).

Lots of SFX with tedium and nausea filling in the remainder. Like most scifi stories FF can exist in written form but doesn't make the transition to screen easily.

Doubt it will last (depending of course on its competition....if there is any). Seems we set new low bars each TV season.

LOL - Others I know said this, too. Maybe that's why ABC aired it again on Friday... not for the folks who missed it, but for those who did see it so they could have another chance to figure out what was going on. ;D
 
Well, my wife and I are hooked on it. I think its a very ambitious, creative puzzler with very good character development. Odd that some consider it inferior to "Lost." We gave up on Lost after the 3rd episode.
 
I like the show; interesting concept. I don't know how they'll get more than one season out of it due to its limited event time window - 6 months. After April 2010, do they have another flash forward? Or do they do another "Who shot Bobby Ewing"-esque "I was only dreaming" plot turn?

The show is taking on elements of 24, starting with the opening sequence briefly describing the premise. One of the major characters just completed a significant role as the President's daughter on the last season of 24, and one minor character from this past week played a similar role to the one he had on 24 last season.
 
It's not exactly 6 months, which is peculiar.

The flash forwards took place October 6, they tell us every week, yet the events predicted occur on April 29.
