Thoughts On Giant Brian's Debut On 96.1?

This morning was Giant Brian's scheduled debut as the new morning show on Project 96.1 - excuse me, 9-6-1 - wow, thought the most active forum on the board would have a take or two on it by now...

I was more impressed with Jenner's wife Shannon filling in for the elderly Leslie Fram on the Old Morining X. They should drop Leslie and add her. Good delivery, could hold her own and actually knew how to participate in conversations with out pre-thought soundbites that Leslie has become. Sometimes I wonder if she is actually there or did they just hit insert her soundbites in.

I won't be able to listen as my radio had all Clear Channel stations removed in October of 2006.

I think Best Buy is now selling those.

Yep...and they're selling twice as many of those than they are of the HD radios.

Did he debut? There is no mention of him on Project's website and GiantBrian.com doesn't have anything.
I turned on 961 for 5 mins (8:55am) - they ended a song went into traffic without announcing that they were doing traffic and then went into commericals.

Active--yes. Interested--no.

No sign of a Giant Brian debut on Project 9-6-1 this morning. Over at 99X, Jenners' wife Shannon worked out fine. Enjoyed on 99x the Shebo (sp?) segment featuring moments from reality TV this past week. Is it just me or has Jenners done a good job in his role on the new Morning X? Anybody else ready for it just to be called the Morning X now that it has almost been a year on the air now?

One last thing, anyone catch the spots 99X has been airing making mention of a "Giant" New Music Spider and other things being referred to as Giant? Is this an attempt to poke fun at the some day new morning show at the Project?

I listened today. I thought the show was horrible. He screwed up every stop set. Had no idea what he was doing. He was constantly hitting the wrong hot keys. He sidekick kept saying Wake up you rednecks. Overall I give this show 3 months.

Very disappointing. We waited this long for this kind of crap. Chris Williams should be embarassed but I did like the slutty sidekick chick.

I may be a little bitter....hell, I may be REALLY bitter that I don't have a gig but the guy should be able to do a few weeks just from bits he's done in the past. No excuse not to have your show scripted and ready to go. You can always go off script if something good happens but if you're not prepared, the show ends up being a train wreck. To his defense it's hard to do a show with a sidekick you've never worked with before. You try to balance out mic time to make everyone happy. I'm sure management is trying to micro the show which is going to screw it up for sure. Let the guy be in control of his own show. Tell his sidekick how much mic time she should get, direct his bench players etc... If the show fails at least he did it on his terms and not from the direction of a failed afternoon host... oh wait, he's still on afternoons....

This typifies the kind of ignorant posting this board is famous for. To judge a show based on the guy's ability to run the board IN HIS VERY FIRST WEEK is a prime example of the lack of radio knowledge and knee-jerk negativity that undermines most postings here. Excellent point, Tibbs: Giant won't last here because he hit the wrong buttons two days into his gig. Brilliant insight. His biggest obstacle will be the Northerner attitude. Time has shown that doesn't play well here at all.

Really!? I thought the slutty sidekick chick was horrible. She was trying too hard to be sexy. I found that annoying. Giant need to learn how to pronounce Gwinnett County. I give the show 30 days.

If Gwinnett was't bad enough. What about pronouncing Dacula like Dracula and his infantile remarks regarding Dunwoody.

Also someone should tell hims sidekick that the Braves are broadcasted on their sister station so he shouldn't refer to Chipper as going downhill since he left the Hooter's $#@*^ and refering to Bobby Cox as the senile man with drool hanging from his chin. Not the way to make friends with the listeners and then insulting the cluster's biggest deal. Keeps this up a firing would be his best recourse over the blanket party that is about to be held for him.

Tomorrow's show was promoted as containing and I quote "more Braves talk, massage parlor reviews and a chick from PETA who supports Mike Vick."

If this is all you have after three days then there is just enough time for Eric and Larry to patch up their differences for The Regular Guys III premiering in March 2008 on the New 96Rock.

Look at RTibbs getting all frothy at the mouth. Wooder's right. Give it some time before you cast judgment. Adjustments will be made, those 'tricky' city pronunciations will get sussed out and whatever talent they possess will rise to the surface. Or sink. I do not know.
Nice to see the Project was so proud of the new show that as of an hour ago they dont have the morning show on their site. Nice touch. Good to see things are as dysfunctional as ever there. Psst....Mr. PD...(whispered) you want people to know about your morning show. Its usually the key to winning. If you dont believe me just take a look at how much (and when I say how much I mean how little) the Morning X has done for that station

Hopefully all of you will listen tomorrow and hear what I am saying. I mean the whole highlight of the show today was "Guess what's in my pocket?"

Am I the only one here who listened to them. If so this is bad news. Perhaps I am hallucinating the whole thing?
