Thoughts on KHFI's new morning show?

Any thoughts on the new morning show on KHFI? Every time I turn to it, I hear people yelling at each other. Nothing like the Bobby bones show was. I like KVET a lot better now.

I've only caught two breaks - a daily phone "tap", and hollywood news. I thought it was actually better than Bones.

Funny you mention all the yelling, since that's all I heard from Lunchbox on Bones.

I will say, a better Midday line up would help them greatly. "Alex on the Mic" and Cruz are the epitome of bad radio.

These comments are ridiculous. Cruz in Dallas sucks huh. Says who?? He's first in Dallas and Austin.

I wonder how they fared in the ratings in their first month broadcasting here. It was a weird choice though...I didn't think that New York humor/style would work in Austin. Surprised they didn't go with The Bert Show, their style is similar to the BBS. That's what Amarillo and Lubbock replaced Bones with on their KISS stations

Keep in mind that the KISS stations in Lubbock and Amarillo are owned by Townsquare. KISS in Austin is Clear Channel. Bert is Cumulus. Clear Channel and Cumulus do not mix!

Elvis Duran (or however you spell it) is from Texas. He's from the Valley and worked all over the state of Texas before getting his current syndication deal out of New York. He has even worked in Austin before....like 20 years ago. B93 I believe it was.

So does this help prove the point that you really don't need local morning shows? That the audience tastes have shifted so much that nobody really cares?

I don't really think it proves anything since this situation is pretty new. Austin has pretty much rejected syndicated morning shows up til now generally speaking. There have been shows that broke through for a book or two but haven't really lasted. Even with Bobby Bones, I think people still think of him as being from Austin so I'm not sure that counts, at least not in the short term. This is a question that only time will tell.
