On KLOU: With K-Hits gone, but with Mason and Remy gone and Christmas Music gone, still pulled off a top finish! A bright light in the shaky iHeartMedia cluster. But these monster shares have to be getting some attention: Hubbard has yet to tweak the playlist at 106.5, and as St. Louis headlines continue to become the nation's headlines... 97.1 remains in the gutter.
On NOW 96.3: A few months ago, someone posted on here something to the extent of "Z107.7 is boring and badly programmed... someone needs to take them on..."... go figure that we'd end up with a rival that manages to be both more boring and more badly programmed. With billboards, promotions, and local air staff, Emmis is clearly (and admirably) committed to this station. But the playlist is horribly stale, and sounds more like Y98 than Z107.7. It's nice to have a local air staff, but at the moment they don't really add anything to the station other than constantly reminding listeners that they are physically in St. Louis. Ratings don't necessarily tell the full story when you're ditching nearly all of your past format's listeners, but the ratings do match the sound... at least to me.
Thoughts?
