Thoughts on QFM/Times Shamrock.

Hi crew. I'm currently being considered for the PD job at QFM. Anything I should know about the station, facility, other management, and Times Shamrock?
Be constructive with your comments and please no personal attacks. I can't get the signal where I live. Anyone willing to send me some airchecks? Thanks.

You seem to have a lot of questions about a station for a guy who is being considered for the PD job. You can't hear it where you live? Have you heard much of it at all?

About two weeks ago the OM informed me that I had made it through the initial round of screenings as they trimmed their list of applicants from over a hundred to about twenty.
I live about 90 minutes away of the southern fringe of their coverage area and can't travel into it very often. The OM I talked to gave me a basic idea of their format. I went to their website and that gave me some more info. Other than checking the website every now & then to see what song is on the air, I have very little to go on. I am currently employed in a sales job that took me to Hazleton one day, and while I was there I was able to hear about 5 breaks of a mid-day show. I have no clue what the other dayparts sound like, especially mornings. The only other info I have is what I picked up from old posts on this sight.
Please don't be suspicious of me. If you don't want to help, that's fine. I assure you that my intentions are genuine with no other motives.

During my short stint in radio(years ago), I worked for Jeff Laird who, last I'd heard, was in charge of things for Shamrock. Nice fella, good boss.

Congrats on making the cut so far, good luck!

I worked for Times/Shamrock about ten years ago. I have very few positive memories of the place and those mainly consist of the people I worked with. Just so you get a "fair and balanced" view, I will just say it is a family-owned business. It has been owned by the same family since the twenties. Some of the attitudes of those in charge go along those lines---take that for whatever you think it means. When I was there they paid very well and they have some employees up on the fifth floor that have been there for years, some of them in their second decade of employment. So it can't be all that bad, right?

I'll validate that, the staff was great, the family however can have a cavalier attitude toward staff, and the pay is really low end compared to others in market such as Entercom... I had a miserable time with Bill Lynett and his horrible attitude. Has age mellowed him, hope so.. but as a PD, you better be aware of this... scmidlapp, i must have worked w/ you.. so I think my statement is fair without being harsh... and I would think you probably agree.. just remember these 2 words.. I shiver as I read that name.

WOW that takes lots of b*lls. I'm applying for a job and I want to get the "dirt" on a station and a company off a radio bulletin board that anybody can post to and anybody can read? There's a couple ticks off your I'll get the job score

Did you read & understand the orignal post? I never intended to say or imply anything about "dirt". How about my requesting no personal attacks? In fact, some of the comments made were positive. Especially the one about certain employees having been there for two decades. I was looking for honest comments & opinions about a station that I'm having trouble finding info about and maybe a good samaritan in the area willing to send me some airchecks. Do you have a suggestion how I could have found out some background information otherwise? I never intended to come across as arrogant or underhanded. My apologies if that's how you took me.
