Aside from changing back to Classic Rock, any thoughts on WRNO after almost a year? What does it do right and wrong? Who should join the lineup? Will it ever make money? Thanks.

Thoughts On RNO After 11 months?

Now you know they're not going Classic Country. So, thoughts on the Talk Lineup?
Rob & Bo - Terrible. Borderline unlistenable.
Jim Brown - When he has guests, it's an interesting show. He can't do talk without guests.
Andre - Not the old Andre. Don't know if she's ever coming back.
Hannity - Drives the ratings at the station.
Garey & Anthony - Now that Shane Warner and Kaare Johnson are off WIST (although Kaare's coming back), they are hands down the worst show on the air. Garey can't put together 2 coherant sentences in a row and Anthony needs to go buy a real voice and a personality. For 2 guys with no ratings, the egos are incredible.
Mark Levin - Doesn't fit in New Orleans but has to air because of Hannity.
Dennis Miller -Always clever. Too many replays.
On the weekends:
Gerry V - Why?
Lorin Gaudin - Great show. Sometimes too bubbly.
The Psychic and the Doc - I'm sensing another bad book

Pretty much WWL tries to go after the yat crowd.... WRNO claims they are the voice of NOLA, but how can it be with syndicated stuff and people who left other stations under ahem circumstances.
With so much talk in New Orleans, I'm surprised no one has tried regional host Moon Griffon even though he's like an alien to New Orleans (New Orleans can be it's own island at times in Louisiana...)

You are correct about Gerry V.He is the worst Talk Show Host i've ever heard ! My god he drives me crazy.Get him off the air ! As for you radio buff.You need to get a show !

GerryV, no disrespect to you, but sports is an afterthought on RNO. Half the time your show is about sports, the other half you talk about whatever.
I loved your show on WODT. Too bad more people didn't listen (sorry, that's not my fault).

ah ha ! i took your earlier comments the wrong way. i am sorry for that..wodt was doing well within our key demos....for a 5,000 watt signal we developed a nice following and BOOM ! the storm ..tower problems etc...moving away for two seasons ( NBA) etc....new management drops sports etc.....it was a fun run and i enjoyed the heck out of it.....the saturday show is 2 hours of fun ! whatever is going on in our world....still doing afternoon drive in another market ( various topics)and hope to be back on daily in new orleans in the future...the experience of talking about anything is a joy ride. i'm lucky to have folks that allow me to be as creative as i want to be and let me create my own playground.....clear channel new orleans and okla.city have been good to me.........thanks for the comments

In CCNO, you're dealing with the most bush league outfit around... and you know it. You tolerate it, but you know it. You do have mad skills, no doubt, but sports is where those skills lie, and these "cranks" you work for (read Bob C. and Dick L.) are so delusional that they have managed to drag 99.5's ratings down to that of a 5000 POS daytimer am'er (1280am) ratings in "the" heyday (1.7's etc)!

RNO seems to talk down to people. I don't get Andre at all, just sounds like she is lost. Some of her topics make no sense. Never been a Hannity fan and putting on a convicted Insurance commissoner doesn't seem like a wise move if your suppose to be a new voice. The news/weather/traffic is what I can get from 870, they are not leading the pack with news or anything, just the same I get other places. I agree with someone who said the morning and afternoon shows are just plain awful. Never listen for more than a couple minutes at best, its rather boring IMHO.

They do overempathsize the news on 99.5. Especially when the news people aren't reporters but readers.
I punch around during the day but, I can't listen to the two clowns on in the afternoon. They're terrible. 690 has Savage, 870 has sports so, driving home, it's cds. And that's sad that they're one local talk program in drive time and 99.5 has to give us two morons who spend the afternoon laughing at their own jokes and talking about "my people" "no, my people". Anthony is the biggest racist in New Orleans. He needs to quit and try to help Nagin fix his image.

Whats it like on the inside ? I'm in the building on saturday morning 8-10 am and during the week i use another studio to send out my daily show to another market. A special series will soon appear..." My Life on the Inside!" the most in depth look at life in the radio world ! Reality Radio like never before ! Having experience in sales I don't know how they can sell an FM with a 1.* they got in the last book, although I cant see the breakouts just seems to be a tough sell from here

(insert music here....the old cop theme Dragnet would be good)...
life inside WRNO.....today around 4:45 PM..i stroll to the mens room fighting off the hustlers and the groupies that hang around my studio....as i enter the mens room some guy is in stall#2..i checked to see if he had a wide stance....he didn't...i went into action ( the lil boy in me took over)....i turned out the lights and told him how hot i thought he was using a fench accent...he seemed scared out of his..well you know....i turned on the lights and left....he never said a word as i saw him later in the building....he obviously didn't know it was me.....at 5:30 during a commerical break i walked over to get some coffee.....he was their as well...he looked very pale.....i'm gerry v....that what its like on the inside.....the story is true...names were no used....just mine.....radio where grown men die like dogs......except the V Man.
