Thoughts on the Austin Radio Market

So I finally had time to look at the latest 12+ ratings for the Winter. How long before KFMK flips to something else? How long before Entercom dumps JB and Sandy? Or Cary and Bridget? How do the stations bill? It's sad to see how bad both stations have become.

Clear channel is being forced to sell KFMK which automatically drives down the price. So they're purposely stripping it of listeners before they let it go.

I actually like KFMK "Jammin 105-9" and stream them quite a bit. I love the rhythmic AC format in general and I really don't understand why it hasn't caught on. Do people not want to hear gold rhythmic cuts the same way people like gold based rock formats. I just don't get it because I love the format. I've always been a huge CHR and Dance fan since the 80s so I love hearing all of those songs again. Also I love uptempo music and don't really care for ballads, so I like the energy level of the format as well.

But anyway, I personally love "Jammin" and the Rhythmic AC format and I listen and stream it as often as I do Dance and CHR stations. I hope it survives and doesn't dissapear.

I give JB and Sandy at least till Next March. The New Co Host searches was a good idea. But in the end it just didn't do it for them. Watch out out for The Hispanic Stations take big jumps ups in ratings in the next couple of years.
