Safe, bland, profitable. Lots of songs that a lot of people like and personalities who, except for the entertaining Loren and Wally, don't get in the way. Perfect for the pure background medium that radio has become. I kind of figured they'd pick up a lot of the '70s songs on the WODS playlist after the flip to CHR, but it never happened. Probably would have been too much of a gamble for a station run in such a conservative, don't-make-waves fashion, but I still maintain it would have made sense. WZLX is more for people who were listening to WCOZ or WBCN in the '70s. WROR's singles-oriented playlist appeals more to those who had WRKO or WVBF on. So why not sound more like a '70s Top 40 in terms of playlist variety?
Of course, now that the 20-somethings of the '70s are starting to age out of the sellable demo, WROR is likely to start sounding more like an '80s CHR, and the sound of those MTV-influenced years wasn't exactly awash in variety.
