Sin-dication
I'm afraid, that in the short term, syndication has a couple of things going for it.
1) It's cheaper than a talented live body.
2) It's already half sold, so sales people don't have to work as hard selling what many of them consider to be a "throwaway" daypart.
Ultimately, however, syndication is like the boll weevil that destroys the cotton from the inside. In this case, syndicated programming encourages listeners to enjoy generic entertainment that has no real live or local connection. That's like a subtle advertisement for satellite, or on-line listening.
It is my understanding that Tesh at least features locally scheduled music, and is far more music-intensive than either Delilah or Kim. To my ears, Tesh was the lesser of two weevils. Now, I guess he's the least of three weevils.
