It's been quite interesting and scary around here.
I've lost count of all the earthquakes I've felt the past few days but the 6.9 yesterday was an unforgettable experience.
I had just gone into the Hilo Walmart when it hit and it seemed like the whole place was going to collapse. The sideways back and forth motion of the ground made it hard to stand at one point.
When it stopped, many items were thrown from the shelves but there was no other obvious damage and business resumed.
I'm only a few miles from where the lava threat is but there's no concern that we are in any danger, as we are higher up on stable ground.
So since the big quake yesterday, three of the FM stations I like are gone.
92.7 KHBC The Wave, 95.9 KPVS The Beat, and 100.3 KAPA Home of Hawaii's Music.
I'm wondering if the damage was to the transmitters themselves or if it's lack of power.
Haven't yet heard any other stations on the now empty frequencies.
