Three Months From Today

...that's right, the fat guy comes down the chimney. But in less than two months, KEZ unleashes their annual repertoire of all Ho-Ho-Ho Music. Looking at the month of November, Nurse Jeff and I predict they'll launch on Friday 11/18. Care to out guess us? Go ahead, cause sooner or later we'll simply be having a Wonderful Christmas Time!

(now, where in the Media Hut did I put the barf bags?)

I can't argue with that logic. 11/18 gives you 2 weeks of a bump in the November book before the Holiday book that everyone throws out kicks in.

McCartney > that damn Hippo for Christmas song

Didn't they jump the shark one year and start it closer to election day. I think that was the year they lost a coveted preset spot in my car.

In previous years other stations have tried to beat KEZ to the punch and that action turned it into Ho-Ho-Halloween.

I think everyone has learned that doing that doesn't help the other station much and doesn't hurt KEZ much, so there's little incentive to try to claim the Christmas throne.

So the calculus is take the start of the Holiday book and then back up 2 weeks for Santa's magic number at 99.9. That gives KEZ a 2 week spike in the December book. Everyone throws out the Holiday book because a) KEZ is all Christmas and listening patterns go nuts and b) half of the market goes on vacation but KEZ gets a nice spike for December and carries a nice holiday hangover into January.

That was Halloween years back when KOOL 94~Five started spinnin' Santa music. YIKES! And IIRC, it was two years ago when rimshotter KOAI 95~One took an early run with the reindeers. Didn't do much for them, and KEZ dominated halls decked with boughs of holly. Fa la la la la, la la la la.
