THREE of your stations heard in DALLAS!

Hi there Chicago!!

I live in Dallas, and I love to use my little transistor radio (which is surprisingly powerful for its tiny size) to try and pick up long distance radio stations. Being a baseball fan, I can actually pick up the network for 9 different teams (including the Cubs)!

I can pick up THREE DIFFERENT RADIO STATIONS FROM CHICAGO!!! It's great.
WGN 720 (go Cubs!)
WBBM 780
WLS 890

They are all 50,000 watt, so I'm not surprised.

Thanks for the great programming!

Regards from Texas,
CTL

PS People from other cities (cough.. Des Moines!.. cough) have accused me of being a CC Exec. trying to help out a CC station. This proves them wrong! (along with other posts in Denver, Pit, Cincy, and others).

Thanks!

One late night driving between New York and Boston (where I live now) I gave the AM dial a spin to come up with those 3, along with WSCR (670) and AM 1000. And yes, it was nice hearing local coverage of the cubs, since no one carries them up here :(

Ya, they're great. Just heard from Atlanta saying the exact same thing!! HaHa. You know, the Midnight Trucking Radio Network actually has a lot of power between WBAP 820, and WWL 870 New Orleans (now they're all Katrina coverage). Gary McNemara (no idea how to spell that) used to have 6-9pm on WBAP, but they moved him to the Trucking Network (which is anchored from BAP in Dallas).

Thanks for the notice!! I'm always wondering how our stations are far away.

Is ESPN 1000 listenable in Dallas? They throw that huge null towards Washington state - which makes for great nighttime reception here in Ohio and pretty much the eastern half of the country - but I don't know if that affects signal towards Texas. I don't remember hearing it the last time I was in the Metroplex, but that was 18 months ago.

Not that I know of. We actually have a 990 AM. Its not really strong (10 or 15k), but it is on 24/7. So I dont think we can pick it up here.

Any other tries??

Maybe a better question for Chicago-area listeners is what is 1000's reception like in the southwest suburbs like Lockport and Joliet. The main null seems to be thrown back to the northwest away from the Downers Grove area.
