Three translator licenses delete in N. Alabama

I just saw where three Tennessee Valley area translator licenses were turned in and deleted a few days ago.

Cumulus axed 100.1 in Athens, which last I heard was relaying WHRP-FM's Adult Mix format. Urban deleted two in Florence, on for WLAY-AM and one for WMXV.

I can see where the one for WMXV might be redundant, but what's going on with the other two? I seem to recall 100.1 having a long history in Athens, going back to 103 KDF from Nashville at one point. The WLAY-AM one is even more baffling as getting your AM on FM is a big thing right now. So to not only get rid of it but delete the license is curious.

Thoughts?

Can you post a link to this information. I used to work in the Florence years ago and I would like to read more about this.

I see that W281AB 104.1 Mountain Brook (relaying WMJJ-HD2 Birmingham as "104.1 The Beat") has been given a license to cover for 250 watts. Has it made the upgrade yet?

Yep, and from what I hear, it's doing really well. May even give Jamz a run for their money. God knows they need a kick in the pants over there.

Edit to add: Doing well, coverage-wise, for a translator.

Nate, licensed to cover is granted only after a construction permit (CP) is completed. By the way W281AB has great coverage. I recently rode the signal 50 miles before it started to break up. This has to be the best translator in Alabama.
