Thrift Shop / Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Who's playing it and who's not? Ok, I'll answer the latter myself. Cumulus CHRs are likely not playing it, but who else? I'm sure the lack of Cumulus love on CHR will hold its Top 40 chart numbers down, but aside from that, what are your thoughts on this one as far as CHR/Mainstream goes? It's certainly looking good so far. #1 Billboard Hot 100, #18 Billboard Pop Chart, #15 Top 40 Mediabase.

I heard both Chattanooga CHRs playing it when I was in town a couple weeks ago. No surprise that my local Cumulus "CHR" WZYP isn't playing it, (unless Perez Hilton is. I'm not sure,) but I'm surprised the new CC CHR in town 106.5 Kiss-FM isn't playing it yet either.

Been playing since the beginning of November. Great listener reaction on the record. Currently in Medium rotation.

WZYP playing Thrift Shop? Thanks for the laugh! Never in a million years would WZYP touch that song. Even my local Hot AC KPLZ is not playing it and Macklemore is from here in Seattle, which explains why KBKS has it at the top of their playlist.

LOL I know it. It doesn't matter if the song goes number one on CHR charts, ZYP still won't play it. Since my post though, Kiss FM is now playing it in a medium rotation. I like the song personally. It cracks me up. I hope it continues to do well.

Actually, when Cumulus first took over ZYP the sttaion actually played some big crossover Hip Hop songs, including "Party Like a Rockstar"
However, Cumulus destroyed the heritage ZYP sound and imaging

If you want to get a sense of what ZYP sounded like in the 90s, you can listen to the current sound of 99.5 ZPL Indianapolis, which recently evolved back to CHR/Pop. ZPL has the same jingles that ZYP used to have, and the music mix leans a bit on the adult rock/Pop Rock, which has usually been the core sound of ZYP as well

WZPL is sounding really great now,, Im n Indy,, and actually have been listening to ZPL over RADIO NOW WNOU,, which is a highly respectable youth friendly chr,,, Both stations sound balanced now with a mix of Rock Dance POP and Rhythmic,,, Before WZPL has a modern leaning Hot AC,, and extremely Female targetted,, while WNOU leaned rhythmic,,, But both stations sound balanced now.. WZPL has the better imaging and has custom EDTS,, Mixes for the station...

Thanks CHRles. I'm checking them out now. Coincidentally enough they were playing Thrift Shop when the stream first loaded.

KHKS 106.1 Kiss FM in Dallas/Fort Worth is playing it since November. It was already #1 on their "DFW's Most Wanted" countdown show the first time I heard it, and it has become my instant favorite.
