Thunder 102 At Woodstock

A buddy of mine told me that Thunder 102 was at Woodstock this weekend. Doesn't make any sense. Yes, they are in Yasgur's backyard, but, Thunder is country. You'd think that BG would have had its sister station Sunny 105 there since Sunny plays 60's music. Mind boggling. I also heard from a different source that BG is considering selling Thunder. Any truth to that?

Don't know what the thinking is. Thunder 102 is all over the road and has seen steady declines in listenership over the last two years, my guess is that they are desperately grasping at straws. Sunny 105 has not yet made any impact in Sullivan County at all, so it would be out of place to have them at Bethel Woods. The owners of the station might be considering selling Thunder, but I can't imagine who would find it valuable in today's economic climate.

I stopped by the Thunder 102 tent at Bethel Woods on Saturday during the Woodstock Festival and have to say that their live broadcast helped me out tremendously. They talked about the traffic getting in and with that information I was able to take an alternate route and got in pretty easily. I've seen them at numerous concerts before and also hear the PR guy Matt from Bethel Woods on with them alot. That pretty much proves to me that the people at Bethel Woods finds Thunder 102 very useful in what they are trying to accomplish.

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong but I believe they are the only ones there that are actually broadcasting live and mentioning all the important last minute news, concert changes, ticket info, and important weather instructions live and up to the minute. They do a great job at keeping listeners informed on everything that is happening in the area. And by the way I did see that they were also displaying their sister station Sunny 105's banner and had plenty of 60's music playing when I was there. It was so nice to be able to groove with everyone while standing in line waiting for the gates to open on a very hot summer day. It made those two plus hours on line much more enjoyable. Listening to them interviewing people in the crowd and finding out where they arrived from really gave a sense on not only how big the scope of this was, but how much people really wanted to be here. Great job all the way around for everyone who made this day so wonderful for me to experience.

horrible station. really cowpoke sounding. WPDH, WSUL, WVOS, WOLF and K-104 all do a far superior job.
who wants to waste their weekend listening to people being interviewed about how far away they parked their truck.....c'mon!

I agree. Thunder sounds poor to me. Lots of talk, but nothing of substance.
Speaking of Bethel Wood, a few weeks ago Tom Jones cancelled his show, and we heard about from listening to WVOS.
My husband put on Thunder two days later and they were still talking about the show, after we already knew it was cancelled.
Why would the country station be talking about Tom Jones anyway?

Hey, can you do me a favor Shirl? Can you go up to the Thunder 102 Radiothon tomorrow and while the tens of thousands of dollars are coming in for those families of Iraqi and Afghanistan soldiers I want you to stand up and say exactly what you just wrote here. You seem like a pretty stand up girl so I would expect you would have no problem in doing this right? It's quite easy actually, all you have to do is stand up and say... Thunder 102 is a horrible station and offers nothing of substance. I wonder what their reaction would be to you? Better yet... why don't you do something constructive like go up there and make a donation.... you may actually feel better about yourself.

Country Nut, why is this personal?
How dare you make this personal.
Why don't you ask my husband to say what he thinks, since he's recently back from his third tour?

It is unfortunate that Thunder 102 isn't a very good station, because I feel that their radiothons and such could be far more effective for those families if they were. But, thats my point, who really wants to listen to a radiothon anyway??

I'd think you'd be less concerned about what the radio station's reaction to me is and more concerned about what the reactions of listeners LIKE ME are to the station. If you want to come out to fund drives, blood bowls and radiothons that's fine, but I listen to radio to be entertained and informed, Thunder doesn't do that for me.
It would be as if the Girl Scouts did nothing for our kids but send them out selling cookies, if that were the case, it wouldn't be a very worthwhile an organization in my mind.

Country Nut, if you enjoy Thunder 102....great for you. I think there are far better listening options.

I don't need to ask your husband because he didn't make the stupid and unsubstantiated remark that Thunder 102 is rediculous and has no substance. You made that remark and I understand that this is America and you are entitled to your opinon... but that doesn't mean you can just write whatever you want without being challenged. I'm sure those families of war vets are very appreciative of the efforts of that radio station... you know... the one that you said has no substance. Not quite sure why you have such a reason to to constantly put down a station because YOU don't like them. There are obviously thousands of listeners that happen to think they are pretty kewl as was shown on Saturday.

Like I said before, in this country you are entitled to your opinion, but it doesn't mean everyone feels the same way you do. I enjoy their banter in the morning, love their music during the day, and am kept up to date on everything that is important in the area. I really couldn't ask for anything more. And as I have heard them say many times that they are Sullivan County's most listened to station I would say that others feel the same way I do.

"And as I have heard them say many times that they are Sullivan County's most listened to station I would say that others feel the same way I do."

Thunder 102 (WDNB) is NOT Sullivan County's Most Listened to Radio Station.
That honor goes to WSUL, followed by WPDH.

Really?

You mean they are lying when they say that? Do you have any proof that this is not true because if you do then you should call them on the carpet for it because that is not right to say if its a lie.

turn off the morning show because they put you back to sleep...
talk,talk,talk ....blah,blah,blah
how about some country music
at six am who wants to hear about food
put some food in Pauls mouth and tell him to shut up already

Iron man I agree completely. Who in the world wants to listen to Paul sit there with HIS personal friends just babbling on about absolutely NOTHING??? Nevermind the fact that they are all complete retards... Oh heres a good one... Can someone tell me what the point to this is? They were having call-in contests to win tickets to an event they were having... The tickets to the event were free to begin with. HA! Gee thanks Thunder for the great prize...

At first I was excited to see a new country station come to town but It didnt take me very long to see that we were substantially better off without them. Im just glad I moved far enough away that I cant even accidentally tune them in...

Oh and Country nut... I AM an American Soldier, and yes it is nice that they raised money for the soldiers currently overseas. However that does not stop them fro sucking at everything they do. Just because they did that and it was successful does NOT make me say... "well... they DID raise money for the soldiers so Im gonna listen to them anyway. Even though they are horrible and are idiots..." And dont you worry... I would have NO problem in the world saying that directly to Pauls face. Everyone at that station needs to go find a job that they are actually good at. Period.

Hey Ironman... Instead of coffee and donuts in the morning I think they need a nice hot cup of "shut the hell up" and a "Nobody gives a crap" McMuffin!
