I'm starting a thread solely about Thursday Night Football rights which seem to be up for contention every year. Here is the latest update. CBS and NBC will share 5 games each. http://jmanmediazone.blogspot.com/2016/01/thursday-night-football-to-cbs-and-nbc.html

The NFL also wants to control the schedule and make it sporadic rather than having a set number of weeks that each network has games. This is going to really screw them over.

This past year, the NFL Channel used the CBS crew for their games. Wonder how that's going to work with two networks.

The games not on NBS or CBS and only on the NFL Network will likely be produced by one of the broadcast networks. Maybe they'll split them with CBS producing some and NBC producing others with the SNF crew doing 2 games a week. The reason that the CBS crews were on the NFL Network only games is because those games were produced by CBS.

NFL Splits Thursday Games Between CBS, NBC

The NFL has decided to split a 10-game package of Thursday night football games between CBS and NBC.

The league will be getting $450 million, up from the $350 million CBS alone paid last season for eight games, sources said.

The NFL will have a schedule of 18 games, with 10 simulcast on broadcast and eight exclusively on cable.

The league said both CBS and NBC will produce Thursday Night Football with their lead broadcasters and production teams, and both will contribute to the production of Thursday Night Football exclusively on NFL Network. CBS and NFL Network will televise the first half of the Thursday Night Football schedule with NBC and NFL Network televising the second half.
