Seems to me the recent Ticket changes to its format are a reaction to poor ratings against the other two sports stations in town. Here are some of the ones I've noticed, some subtler than others.
The new sound package: First time in almost 13 years, and I agree it was time for a change. The singing intro is lameballs, but the music bed is kind of catchy.
Eliminating :30 Tickers: Don't get this one unless it's a corporate move to pay ticker guys less.
Cutback of Ticket Top 10: This was prominent over the last couple of months after the end of Stars season, pre-empting it with shows like Junior Coast to Coast and the Wrestlemania pregame show. But I've noticed the station backing away from this. Probably a lot of pushback from P1s.
Weekend replays: Cuts weekend shows by half an hour and prevents crosstalk, which in the case of the Tee Box prevents much generation of radio gold.
In short, I knew after seeing the ratings that changes were coming. Are they for the better?
