Ticket trouble

Today Danny, over the air mentioned some kind of strife with middle managment.

Speaking of ticket troubles, what's the deal with the stream since they moved to Victory???? Found a lot of bitching about it but no answers. I would gladly listen over the air if they had a signal I could hear out this way. Seems like daily, without fail, between 6:00 and 6:15 the stream breaks up to the point of turning it off. Today the stream has been unlistenable since WTDS came on at 3. If it goes in the s-house during e-news, I'll know it's capacity issues. I thought that the AAC and Victory was built over a major fiber line?

UPDATE 4:10pm: Within 1 minute of the tweet announcing Oswalt coming to the Rangers, the stream virtually went away. Lots of digital "Robot Hardline"

It's been horrible for the last hour. Obviously, they do not care about their listeners.

And this is what we are going to get when it goes live on iHeart? Or shall I say "IF" it goes live on iHeart?

Danny has put out a few tweets on the stream issue.. it's amazing how poorly this move to Victory has been handled. Somehow you would think somebody would have gotten the hint on how bad it is. I don't care if you're changing to IHeart or not. Until the change, the product should not have been affected

That whole move to Victory has been nothing but window dressing. All sizzle and no steak. What does Rhyner say "The bang to hype ratio" or something like that?

i apologize for the stream. it is 100% out of our local hands. this is at the corporate level as they change over to I <3 RADIO on june 1st.

SOOOO it looks as if our misery will end on Friday! This is the first hard date I have heard. I guess Cumulus goes on iHeart this Friday.

I have to say even if this is not a corporate thing. Go to any other cumulus site, and listen to the stream and it works. This is local, because they have a chief engineer that really does not know what he is doing. I have heard he is a pretty good transmitter guy, but as far as everything as a whole it is a guessing game with him. The engineering staff that has helped build, and keep the station the quality it was. Has now all moved on to other things. They may still have the same part-time engineers, but they can only do so much. I am also hearing that they are fed up as well.

The no direction from a horrible leader in the engineering department, and a company that will not spend money on ageing equipment that are used on remotes are at fault here. Yeah they do have new studios with new consoles, and Tv's that sit on the floor. They still do not know how to properly work this new equipment, and there was not proper training on it. Like I said though who I think is a very good source that is with the company.

The Ticket has been downhill since The Sky Diving Chief left years ago..

You could not be more correct. The chief engineer does not know what he is doing, Cumulus has crammed 6 stations into a facility that was designed for 4, the new system that replaced the ENCO sucks---as does the rest of the studio equipment. In some cases they are using "band boards" instead of the $75,000 top-of-the-line consoles that were in place in the Arlington studios that could have easily accommodated all the Maple Avenue studios and offices with plenty of room to spare. But no---the Dickey Boys wanted to be able to say that they were in "Victory Plaza" on the air.

I thought the same thing too. BAP, KLIF, and KSCS streams work fine. The Ticket stream has issues 2-3 times a day. We'll soon be reminiscing about the day the Musers died.

BaD just cut Tom Greive short citing technical difficulties. He then mentioned if the technical problems were fixed this would be a good station. Bob said to be careful, then Dan said you can talk about it, just not tweet about it.

Somethings up.

Am I the only one sick of hearing Windows audio prompts over the air.....REALLY?

I almost turned it off.

TAG's reply was pretty funny. Something like "what a surprise." Wish I could remember the line.

They should have a dedicated sound card in that pc for all audio going out over the air.

Of course, those things are like 30 bucks so money may be an issue.

"You've got mail!" "Ding-ding"

Longtimelistener you are right they could have put everyone in Arlington, but Jon Dickey wanted the "wow factor" as I like to call it. That is when you have a station down on Victory. Which right now I do not think you are getting that much visibility with all the sports teams being done for the season.

I know the ticket boys are fed up, and probably are told to stop tweeting, and talking about it on the air. Which is probably why when they bring it up someone always tries to stop it. They do not try very hard, but when you listen to it it is more like a qualifier if you will. I really hope something drastic does not happen like the Hardline or the Musers leaving, but you can not ignore the writing on the wall. Especially when people on this station who have been working in radio for 20 to 30 years say that this chief engineer is the worst PERSON they have every had to deal with in radio.

Every so often I hear Gordon fussing with his laptop, trying to pull up some kind of audio or article content for his segments. He says something about the wireless reception, then George and Craig ask him if he's tried using ethernet cable, all while Gordo's still clicking and fussing. I never know whether Gordo's troubles are new-studio-related or Gordo-related.

Just stop it.

These ******nozzles aren't going anywhere. Each still has to ply their craft somewhere, and KTCK is still the best place for them to do it.

Just like athletes or anyone else on the planet, when their contracts are up, they'll run toward whomever offers the biggest pile.

But no---the Dickey Boys wanted to be able to say that they were in "Victory Plaza" on the air." I hear the little Dickeys like to nickle and dime engnineering to death. Reams of paperwork are required to buy the basics. Since engineering guys are not "air talent" and just guys trying to hold crap together for the corporate task-masters, when they start pulling stuff to make the work even more frustrating than it naturally can be and prevent guys from doing good work, they LEAVE. That leaves either the guys that cannot bail out for one reason or another, or new imports that are generally sub-par. Keep in mind that cluster used to have some really good guys working for them before Faggreed and his pals showed them the door. Now with the Dickeys being even harder to work for, why hang around and take the abuse? What most of these big coporate guys don't understand is they've been pushing engineering harder and harder and paying poorly, making them take care of more signals than ever. There's a point where it's better to either work for yourself, a couple small markets, or simply get out of radio. Unlike air talent, most engineers have other options to work in the oil industry, A/V, cell-tech, etc. When the joy of going to work for LESS PAY goes out, why stay?
