Ticket trouble

The current guy probably was TOLD what he was going to buy by a certain height-challenged corporate guy that makes those kind of choices for the locals. If the GM has no backbone to fight that decision, you get the cheap, sub-par equipment to use for the next decade or so. I totally agree with the other poster's comment about working for these guys. The truth is if no one decent will work for them, they'll go down the tubes faster. Let's all make them the poster child for what DOESN'T work in radio. Maybe, just maybe, the stock analist guys will pick up on what REALLY is wrong with CumeLess "Broadcasting" and let the bean-counting world know the error, in general, with running a company as they run theirs. CC and others are almost as bad, but CumeLess takes the cake. They are the epitome of suck.

And if there are any CumeLess cheerleaders on here, I have not and WILL NOT work for them. I'm not a bitter ex-employee. I have some standards.... LOL!

The little ticket had another technical meltdown yesterday morning during The Tee Box, as the remote dropped out during the 9am hour, not as bad as The Hardline meltdown last week, but still something you dont expect from a major market station w/ some legacy in the market. I'll say it again: I see quite a few of the "big name" ticket staff jumping ship after their contracts are up and heading for better opportunities in the market. Will they end up at KRLD or KESN...or perhaps a new sports station altogether?

Yeah, I was listening Friday afternoon and they played the "Ticket Ticker" jingle then about a minute of dead air then a promo for the station ran then the "Ticket Ticker" again...

These don't necessarily sound like technical issues to me... Let's face it, who hasn't had a remote drop out before -these things happen, the equipment can be working just fine, but if there are crappy conditions at the remote site, or the equipment breaks, not much can be done about that. I do concede that new and properly maintained equipment fails less. But it's not like the remote stuff suddenly started sucking; if it was bad before, it would still be bad after the move.

To me, this seems to be more of a training issue/board op screw-up; if something goes wrong it sounds bad, if the board op panics it sounds terrible. No excuse for playing the same thing twice because the dead air spooked you, the whole point of getting something (promo) on the air is to give you 30 seconds to get something else on air. Play the next commercial break, play a psa, play another promo, play bumper music, anything but the last thing you played.

Give it time, everyone is still adjusting to the move.

This goes further than Board-Op IMHO, this is def cheap tech and bad engineering...I hate saying this, but its a reason i've quit listening to the station both in the car and online...until they get their collective heads out of their asses, why should I give them my listenership??

You know, one of the simple joys in my morning routine is listening to the Ticket on my iPhone thru the Tune-In radio app. I can pause the stream, record it for later listening, or rewind in case I missed something. This morning that joy was taken from me as the stream was no longer available on Tune-In. Hey Cumulus, I would even pay a few bucks just to get the dang stream back on this app. Please.

Im getting KTCK on TuneIn right now.

104.1 FM is pounding as always. It's aggravating when the stream goes down when you're out of the broadcast area. But 15 years ago, if you couldn't listen over the air, you were screwed.

My guess is they cut out remote techs and are forcing talent to set stuff up, or at least the good remote techs left or were shown the door in the name of being CHEAP. The board op has less generally to do with drop-outs, etc. Garbage in, garbage out.

I am too. On 3G at that. The AQ is HORRIBLE, but it's on TuneIn for once in over a month(3G). They are going on iHeartradio soon. KSCS and WPAB are already there. Went live last week. WBAP's website's still links the old stream source and still works on TuneIn. ??? We were trying to keep the working app on the DL. It was our last good source to hear our little buddy out here in the sticks when at work. You heard about that on a PM for a reason 8)

When that happened on Friday, that was completely my fault. I was the afternoon board op that day. Totally my fault, no excuses. In my defense, it was more like 10 seconds of dead air, rather than a minute.

Also in my defense, i'm just the fill-in board op every now and then. That was only my 3rd or 4th shift working PM drive.

Either way though, that was totally my fault and I'll do my best to make sure it doesn't happen again the next time I fill-in.

Is it any wonder why Thomas Charles got the job? ;)

Thanks for fessing up KT. You're a highly underrated bit player. I enjoy your work on Cirque.TV. I hope your radio career dreams come to fruition before this thing dies a slow death.

Shoopy's back!

Well, he's on air talking about a commercial he's up there to record.

Has there ever been a board op who has had the popularity and "fame" that Grubes has had in the history of radio?
