Ticket's Mike Bacsik Suspended For "Dirty" Tweet

Fisrt let me say that I am a fan of the The Ticket, but Bacsik's tweet has Ticket "schtick" all over it. I'm pretty sure that there is a "dirty mexican" drop or something close to it that has been played a million times. Not to mention other borderline offensive things that are said and played day in day out at the Ticket. So not sure if I aggree with Dan Bennett's statement that this is not the The Ticket's standard????.....have you listened to your station Mr. Bennett? Did you write that with a straight face? I can hear all the host laughing while reading your attempt to clean up Bacsik's mess (which was removed from the website by the end of the day).......Bacsik's biggest error was that he placed Ticket schtick in mainstream media for non P1s to read and get offended by.....So I guess everyone will be on thier Ps and Qs, at least for a little while.

What makes some Ticket drops funny is they're isolated from conversations that were in a different context, and replayed at the right moment to sound like something with a totally different connotation if you weren't a P1 that was in on the joke.

George's "I hear the Mexicans are dirty" drop stemmed from a U.S.-Mexico soccer match in which a bunch of yellow cards were issued, in this instance. Maybe if Bacsik had explained the joke, he'd still have a job. But it's not the first time Ticket schtick has gotten people in trouble.

This is interesting as it comes on the heels of a Boston sports radio host's "Nazi rally" comment regarding Tim Tebow's following at the NFL Draft (from what I understand, he was not suspended for that remark but he apologized). And people are comparing this comment to the one that got Don Imus fired from his last talk radio gig a few years ago. Whether it's a fair comparison is up for debate; Imus' field is political talk; "Toucher & Rich" focus on sports talk (though they did an "Opie & Anthony"-esque show a few years prior to their Boston radio situation changing... "Opie & Anthony" - there's one name I'm sure you folks in Dallas are trying to forget ;D).

Even more interesting is that Ticket is owned by Citadel, which just so happens to own a syndicated talk radio show hosted by one Don Imus.

That'll come as a surprise to Lew Dickey this morning.

Oops... got my seven-letter radio companies that start with "C" mixed up again... Good catch! ;)
