Tiger Woods

While watching a certain network's program last night, a certain affiliate said in the commercial for their 11:00 newscast that a famous athlete was found unconscious and bleeding. They did mention that he was a golf great. That's it. No name, no update on his condition.

I had seen headlines about Tiger Woods in numerous online newspapers, even though I was looking for local news in those papers. I checked Wikipedia because I know people there are very diligent about getting rid of inaccurate information or rumors regarding celebrity breaking news. Also because I wanted to see how the even was mentioned there. Of course, it wasn't nearly as serious as the online headlines made it sound.

This network affiliate lost my respect long ago and I refuse to watch their newscasts. But I believe this was a new low.

Does this affiliate happen to be WHDH/WSVN?

It would not surprise me one bit if it was a Sunbeam station.

I don't care what kind of ratings WSVN gets, they are a joke when it comes to their "news" (if you can call it that...which I don't).

Based on the OP's profile I don't think it's a Sunbeam station, unless he/she has moved since last updating the profile.

Anyways, this whole Tiger Woods story has been way overblown. Who cares what he was doing at that hour of the morning, he wasn't drunk. It's his life and if he wants to go for a drive at 2 AM, then he can do that.

Here is a perfect example where professional journalism has been replaced with speculation or entertainment reporting.

I watched CNN this morning and, as always, some "expert" was on discussing possible marital problems, or drinking, or whatever.

What ever happened to waiting until all the facts are in before reporting on a story?

This damn speculation is for the birds.

I hate to be the one to inform you but the the days of Walter Cronkite-type news has been over with for the past 20 years or more.

You mentioned CNN.

Ever watch Headline News, or HN has they call it today?

The morning show has some news, but most of it contains entertainment reporting, plus a drop-dead gorgeous anchor (Robin Meade) whose job it is to keep middle-age men glued to the screen. Hell she could be speaking Latin and most viewers wouldn't care what's she saying.

MSNBC is the official network for the Obama Administration, while FOX News is the mouth piece for the far right element of the Republican Party.

If you want real journalism, I suggest watching C Span because you are not going to get what you want by watching the big three networks or cable news outlets.

Obinray Eademay...hubba hubba ::) ::) ::)

Gotta admit it, Robin Meade has more eye appeal than Cronkite, Rather, Brokaw, Jennings...

I could watch the network in question on the digital channel. They have no news.

Ever since I had to replace the TV, I've had trouble getting a dependable signal, and I try to avoid watching anything there unless it's only on one of the digital channels.

Now if anyone wants to know where I am, all you have to do is figure out where a big three affiliate has no local news ...

I'll give you another hint. The station with the Tiger Woods report is owned by a company whose name rhymes with a network's name. But not its own network.

Now I don't have to be acused of attacking any particular station.
