Tigers to move to WREC

The University of Memphis announced today that their broadcasts will move over to WREC next season. Any word on where the Vols will land?

The CA story said they were still in negotiations, but this ends an almost 50-year relationship between the Vol network and WREC....

Whereever they land, unless it's 680, it will be on a weaker signal.

I've already hear more promotions for the Tigers in the last 24 hours on 600(liners, promos, etc) than I heard on 790 for the last 2 years or so. This is a great move for Tiger Sports Properties.

WREC is on a roll! They have Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Glenn Beck, the top three talk shows in radio. And now to have the Tigers is just the icing on the cake. They aired the press conference at noon yesterday when it was announced. FMSales made a good point about hearing the liners. When the conference was over, they immediately had a liner announcing News Radio 600 WREC as the new radio home of the Tigers.

What, the dittoheads didn't march on the station because Rush was interrupted?

:)

Actually, I personally think CC's strong hand is News/Talk. WREC is Memphis' version of WLW, minus the great talent up there. Wherever they do NT it seems that they get it right (we won't talk about the AAR fiasco). Can't say that about their music formats but they do know how to maintain thair AM properties.

Other companies, OTOH, like Entercom, they seem to botch up NT on a regular basis... great example up here is 680 WRKO... with the exception of Howie Carr, the station's a disaster, and it's one of two full time talk stations, getting it's butt kicked by the FM talker with Imus in the morning.<P ID="signature">______________

Actually sjs, no, it was during the "top of the hour news break." So none of Rush was interrupted.
