Tim and Willy - Why no takers?

You would think for one of the most known and successfull morning duos in phoenix, someone would have picked them up by now. What gives? Are they just too pricey or are they holding out? Do you think Camel would ever think of putting them in pm drive?

#1 reason for them being let go and probably the same reason why they are still sitting on the beach, money, plain and simple.

Doubt you will see Tim & Willy commin back into the CBS fold. Pratte, Gwen and Evans all have 20 years each in Phoenix. Can anybody any other station even come close to matching that???

And KNIX's DJ with the most market heritage? The lady that waters the plants is the only thing left from the once great Owen's days. Would Russ Knight be the longest running?

i'd like to suggest for ktar:

ned & connie 5a

ankarlo 9a

mac 12p

tim & willy 3p

jim 7p

gaydos 10p

Not to take anything away from the current staff at KNIX, but there is no station in Phoenix that has the
organization of people that produce a top-notch radio station. That began with Micheal Owens and Larry Daniels. Their genuine care for their employees and expectations resulted in a ratings leader in Phoenix
and the entire country, not only in their format but any format. That level of performance is lost
in Phoenix.

I would say that Tim and Willy, are doing right now, EXACTLY what the talent they have allows them to do. I hope they get another gig in town, but if pod casting is the best you can do, then pod cast on.

I agree with RADIO PRO...... I was fortunate to be a part of the glory days at KNIX when Buck owned it and son Michael ran it along with Larry D. I was there in the 80's and some of the best years of my radio career were spent there with consistently number one ratings and an airstaff who really worked hard and played hard and actually cared. It was a magical place to work.

I doubt that magic can ever be duplicated again somewhere else.

Maybe it's the ego and the attitudes. Has anyone given this thought? ???

We heard they took an Alaskan Cruise with Liddy & Hill this summer

Don't even get Barry Young started on Willy.....He must have some inside info we civilians haven't detected.
He's got nothing but praise for Tim, tho...

That seems to be the consensus

Make one believe the "Tim & (insert name of new co-host here) Show" maybe heard on a radio near you before the return of Tim and Willy. ;)

Or else Willy addressed Barry as "Mr. Kim Komando" to his face. ;D

Listening to the state of union today on tim and willy dot com

they are talking bout this board right now and reading our messages - talking about being too pricey.....

this state of union is very well done and am finding out where they really stand

some good points:

there will be a breakfast at night show in december
they eventually will be back and their show will be available 24/7
have looked into buying an am station
have turned down offers out of state and even in town which would had them starting a month ago
were in negotiations with the peak but the deal fell through

P.S. since my post got brought up on their podcast, I am not in the biz, never have been but am a 33 yr old guy who is a huge radio fan and is a fan of great personanlity driven radio. I think the phx market is lacking due to no tim and willy on the radio. Great podcast!!!!

Yo T&W--would you consider a player other than QuickTime?
Something more mainstream? It's so "Mac" (and I don't mean
Mac & Cheese on KT'R).

Well there's the "big"--or should I say--"grande" ;) 1190.

Or the most obvious (to those on this board)--Lumberyard 1440.
I'm sure you would take great pains to do a proper sign-on/sign-off. ;D

Was this before or after they cut Scott Drake loose?

I heard they were considering leasing KWSS Scottsdale, and entering a deal with the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce to be the Goodwill Ambasadors to the City. They would voicetrack from the Scottsdale frequency 24/7 and establish an advertising co-op with The Scottsdale Merchant's Association. Their morning show would be live, and simulcast on the Scottdale cable channel.

My source did not disclose the type of music they would play, only saying it would NOT be rap or hip hop.

This is a big dollar deal that would far surpass anything they've made in the past at CC, or could've hoped to have gotten at The Peak.

sarcasm, salesguy? :D $200k+ each for the leased, signal challenged rim shot?

There's so much crap on here about this...much of it spread by TNW themselves

For 2 guys who wanted to leave because management was so bad...they sure spend a huge amount of time making sure every one knows they decided to leave...not that the station threw them out

Reality check. They couldn't beat Pratt...and rather than admit it...they quit. Check the numbers

Reality check. The "Mascotville" piece described on the TNW State of Podcast...a rip off of Pratt. And I heard it was really contest fraud. Taped and made sound live. Can't you be fired for that?

Reality check. First ratings after they left...station set a new high...before falling back with all the changes CC made to screw it up

Reality check. A CC friend of mine told me TNW reneged on the deal that was made..that was after the station spent what he called a fortune in building them their own studio

Losing sucks. Why no takers? At 3M a year, no one is going to stand for finishing 10th.

Zonies hate change..so they'll listen to crap rather than change.

Scottsdale plays host to 4 million dollar condos, a presidential candidate and countless corporate headquarters. I could see it's "Goodwill Ambassadors" raking in the big bucks.

The whole concept is brilliant.

Has any of their previous stations suffered?
It sounds like not too many of the station fans miss them or tuned away.

Yes, I whole heartedly agree. It sounds like no one particularly cared for them. I mean, their leaving wouldn't explain the 4.8 to a 2.5 drop in 2 books. Nope. I guess the drop in numbers was due to Administrative changes at CC or maybe... maybe... it was the receptionist's fault. Or it could be that people just don't like country music at that particular frequency. Yeah, I bet that's it. But not T&W leaving.
