Tim Conway Jr., KABC part company/Update

prediction: Bob Moore keeps trying to bring in ex-KLSX talent and he will go the way of Roy Laughlin. Citadel won't stand for it.

Prediction. Bob Moore will outlast Farid. You really think the board is going to keep him there much longer? You better start reading business message boards. Like the former ABC employees who have/are being showing the door, it's now time for Citadel upper management.

The time to fire Farid was a long time ago, as in, BEFORE he destroyed the company - BEFORE he took on debt he couldn't amortize, BEFORE he bit off more than he could chew with the ABC acquisition, BEFORE he fired successful conservative talk hosts and replaced them with ratings-challenged fossils, and no talents, etc., BEFORE he tried to import NY hosts to LA stations who turn them off in droves, BEFORE his stock was delisted from the NYSE and traded for a penny (literally) on the pink sheets, BEFORE he ruined legacies of legendary stations from coast to coast.

As I mentioned the other day, this guy is the one of the biggest destroyers of wealth anywhere, particularly in radio. Firing him now is a good idea but the barnyard doors have been open for a long time and all the animals are nowhere to be found. It's a little late to say the least.

Bob takes orders from New York and I know your the biggest cheerleader to have the ex-KLSX talent on KLOS, but it won't happen because the suits in N.Y. won't allow it. No matter whether it's Farid or someone else! Bob Moore has egg on his face for having brought in Tim Conway Jr.

You must have me confused with someone else. I never advocated having KLSX talent on KLOS. My rant is an anti-Farid one, having nothing to do with Bob Moore or KLSX. All of the issues I mentioned took place long before Bob Moore got there.

Not you.. the guy (4UH8SIMBKAGN) above u. Didn't bother quoting. All he does is cheerlead for that to happen, but it won't.

You better quote and link some of my posts to prove your case.

Maybe if you'd read my posts and what evidence I point to you get a clue.

What is this? An episode of Perry Mason? "Prove my case?" Evidence?" ;D Your posts prove nothing. KLOS will never be an FM Talk, but you just keep wishing for that. ;D

My posts dating to Bob Moore being in-studio or on the phone during the final 24 hours of KLSX already prove Bob Moore what I posted which was Bob Moore was interested in bringing former KLSX talent over there. I expect it will happen again and not in the far too distant future. KLOS has horrible numbers to sell after Mark & Brian. Bob Moore won't stand for it and he certainly can show what will keep Mark and Brian's audience around.

You, on the other hand, are trying to deflect the fact your statement about me has absolutely no basis of fact.

Statement about you? :D The fact that Bob Moore was a part of the final two days of FM Talk proves nothing. Of course he is fond of his former staff, but that has nothing to do with KLOS. You have proved nothing! KLOS is still playing classic rock and until I turn on 95.5 and hear Conway or Leykis or Carolla I'm the one that's right! :D Your just some guy on a message board obessed with something that will likely never happen. FM Talk is dead in Los Angeles! News/talk done right could happen, but we won't see a station like KLSX again! If the format was so great CBS wouldn't have dumped it. Your asking a company like Citadel to do what CBS gave up on? We're talking about Citadel!! Bob Moore can wish for it as much as you, but it doesn't mean it will happen. KLOS is run on the cheap and Citadel prefers it that way. They aren't going to go and spend $$$$ on FM talk talent. I know that's just too difficult for a die-hard ex-KLSX listener like you to understand. Like I said keep wishing though. Your statements are based on wishful thinking and you have no proof or EVIDENCE! I'll continue this discussion with u at another time I'm sure. I need a good chuckle now and then :D

Words that will come back to bite you. Numbers that KLSX got in men are hard to get. KLSX got them. Bob Moore needs them. KLOS is a union shop as is KABC so they aren't run on the cheap.

I have more evidence than you do and have posted so. You are the one with nothing to back up your opinion.

Who is a die-hard ex-KLSX listener? That alone shows you don't read my posts.

Mark & Brian don't come cheap. KLOS is not run as cheap as other music oriented stations in this market. Hot 92.3, Jack, The Sound, just to name 3, costs a lot less to run than KLOS.

Podcasts are great. Adam Carolla has zoomed to #1 on iTunes or did you miss that thread? You might want to see how many people actually listen to his iTunes podcasts by reading that thread instead of embarrasing yourself with what you're posting.

In your last post you said "I'm done". Can't stick to your words, can you?

Adam Carolla has more people listening to him on iTunes (and surpassed the entire top 10 on iTunes his first week) than he did on KLSX. Would you like to dispute that fact or would you prefer to further embarass yourself? Adam Carolla was the lowest rated full timer on KLSX but that was due to Mark & Brian, primarily. Once Mark & Brian's show was over the audience shifted from KLOS to KLSX. Once the Classic Rock begins on KLOS, the audience says "adios". Are you going to dispute those facts as well? Facts are facts and you have yet to point to any to support your "claims".

Podcasts are great. Adam Carolla has zoomed to #1 on iTunes or did you miss that thread?

Adam Carolla's podcast is number one at iTunes. Frosty Heidi and Frank Uncensored is number three and the Conway and Whitman podcast is number 53. In the comedy category its Carolla #1, FHFU #2 and C&W #14.

These talents can now do their shows unfettered by corporate interference. They create on demand programming in bite sized chunks that fit today's shorter attention spans. No need to draw out a topic because you have 4-hours to fill, no FCC rules to tell you what you can and cannot say. I have a feeling that the former talk hosts of KLSX will be thanking CBS soon for doing them a huge favor.

By the time CBS is done paying out their contracts they will have established loyal podcasting audiences that they will then be able to monetize either via a small subscription fee, ad insertion or product placement. Meanwhile CBS will still be facing a 1.5 billion dollar debt payment next year and more than likely a new set of performance royalties for the music they replaced these hosts with.

Adam, FHF and C&W may very well have NO desire to return to radio by then.

There's only one big question. How do you make money off those podcasts now as the costs aren't low to produce them (now is the key word)? Whitman already dropped his subscription fee. I really don't see a subscription model as working. People will accept spots or maybe live reads (John & Ken and Bill Handel on KFI do a ton of live read spots and they work well). I'm not aware of product placement being used in radio talk shows.

Actually, the costs are quite low to produce a podcast once you have the initial hardware, mics and recording software. A podcast is really only a large mp3 file and doesn't require the same infrastructure as streaming.

You aren't aware of product placement in "radio" talk shows because, unless they are disclaimed as advertising, they would be illegal (I'm fairly sure) but we aren't talking about RADIO talk shows, we're talking about podcasts! "Live" reads by talent, especially someone like Adam, woven seamlessly into the conversation could be quite effective. As for subscriptions, in a recent LA Radio story it was recounted how Jamie Jack and Stench have over 2,000 listeners that pay 5-dollars a month to subscribe to their daily, roughly hour long podcast. You do the math. This IS happening now.
