Tim Conway Jr.'s fill-ins tonight were awful!

Awful? You mean they weren't stodgy, professional, and reading the headlines like the late Peter Jennings?

I thought it was pretty funny.

I like Gina and Randy. Gina has a great voice and she is pretty although she needs to be in the gym a little more. But of course you can't see her on radio.

They were a welcome relief. They sounded normal and not like your stodgy millionaires that dominate talk radio and have no concept of what regular folks are like. I wish they would get rid of that Down's Syndrome poster boy Tim Conway Jr and have these guys on permanently.

I would like them more if they could figure out how to project their voices without sounding like they're shouting all the time. "I'M UNABLE TO CONTROL THE PITCH OR VOLUME OF MY VOICE!!!"

Are they in all week, then?

Listening now. It's not bad. I do admit Bender is helping "carry" the show. The pair have good energy and are trying hard to keep compelling topics. A lot of it is just not having the "connection" I normally have listening to someone like J&K or Conway.

To be fair, I can tell Gina and Randy are putting in 110% effort --- like Conway was 2 years ago. Now that he has his contract and is #1 at night, he's only putting in 60% effort. Maybe a bad PPM book or two will scare him back into the game.

If Robin wanted, I'd say Randy and Gina could handle a Sunday afternoon gig. I'd certainly enjoy it more than that finance infomercial guy. ("That's Rice-Delman dot com!")

Just heard them for a few minutes tonight. I agree they are giving it the full 100% and have a lot of enthusiasm. No criticism there. Unfortunately, the guy's voice is a bit, shall we say, high? Not radio pipes at all and after a few minutes I was ready to move on. It's really not fair because he can only use the voice he has been given, but then life as a whole isn't fair, which is why I have my day job instead of being a professional baseball player.

I'm from out of town and listening via the Internet. Weren't these two staples on KLSX a few years ago? And I thought Gina Grad had some connection to the Adam Carolla Show, as news girl or something. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm surprised to read the reaction here as though they're unknown quantities. I'll hang up and listen for your answer on the air.

Randy was the board-op on TCJ's KLSX show (and later his KFI show). On both shows, despite his underling position, he frequently talked on the air (compare that to the regular KFI board-ops who only talk in the hosts' headphones and are never heard on the air). Gina was the "news girl" on the KLSX show, and also did pre-recorded comedy bits where she demonstrated her talent for voices. She was never a regular on the KFI show, though. She once tried out to be Adam Carolla's news girl after Teresa Strasser left, but they went with Alison Rosen instead.

They are way better than David Cruz, Kennedy, Brian Suits and Wayne Resnik. I don't know why the so called genius over there doesn't put them on the Sat evening slot (previously occupied by Phil Hendrie). Brian Suits is un-listenable in any time slot. KFI desperately needs some light topic hosts and they fit that bill perfectly.

Are you reading this Robin.

Wrong. And who the hell can dislike Wayne Resnick?? I get it if you're not into war and international politics so you don't like Suits, but Wayne-o (a nickname that Brian Whitman came up with and Gina and Randy themselves adopted) is very likable, and does exactly the kind of "light topic" radio you're talking about. He does get serious for at least one segment per show, but for the most part it's light fare.

Wayne is unlistenable because of his overly nasaly voice. He probably has the worst radio voice out of anyone I can think of (Peter Tilden is a close second). It's like those songs he creates for Gina and Randy or for Brian Whitman, they are so irritating because of his wimpy nasal voice (he should have another singer for this songs). I do not doubt for second doubt the talent of this man (particularly for writing jingles) or the fact that he is so nice (as acclaimed by Michelle Cube). But radio host - no way.

He's been with KFI for over a decade now and still has never had a regular weekday gig beyond his hidden night slot or the towel boy for Handel (which he doesn't even get now). I'm sure Robin doesn't think he has the voice for radio either.

My recollection is that Wayne used to have an evening weekly show beginning at 7PM on KFI a number of years ago. I think it may have been for a few years.

Yes, Wayne was a full timer for a year or so during the David G. Hall regime...

Going slightly off-topic, I have a question that's been gnawing at me. I recall that Wayne used to take calls more frequently than he does now. I have a distinct memory of him arguing with a female listener waaaay back in 2000. He had composed a ditty mocking Jenna Bush over her then-recent alcohol scandal (ancient history, huh?), and some shrew accused him of being sexist. Nowadays he almost never takes any calls, and I wonder why that is. Does he just not like dealing with idiot callers?

What host of KFI weekdays takes calls regularly? I guess that is the reason they are called talk hosts since that is all they do.
