He never left. He was doing the late morning/afternoon shift before switching to nights. They made this big to-do about him "retiring". I think he might just be VTing from the great Northwest and switching him to 7 probably gives him some free evenings [well, late afternoons if he is indeed out west] when baseball/basketball/some other sport is on that night.
And speaking of voicetracking......nothing like hearing this on WHOF: DJ talking "blah, blah, blah and how's your SATURDAY afternoon going so far?" Only trouble is that it was SUNDAY evening when I heard it!
