Tim Dukes' replacement is named

For Immediate Release

Clear Channel Radio Appoints Mike Wheeler
Regional Vice President of Programming, Atlanta Region

Atlanta, Georgia. June 27, 2005 – Clear Channel Radio today named Mike Wheeler, Regional Vice President Programming, Atlanta Region. In his new role, Wheeler will serve as a resource to local programmers; leading efforts to develop content opportunities, while also making sure that programmers have the proper tools to program their radio stations.

Mike Wheeler has been in a similar role for Clear Channel's six station cluster in St. Louis since 1998. During that time, the St. Louis cluster has grown to new rating heights, including the launch of a very successful country station. Based in Atlanta, Wheeler will report to Jerry Del Core, Regional Vice President for the region. His appointment is effective July 11, 2005.

Mike will oversee five stations in Atlanta, plus the Braves Radio Network, the Georgia News Network, and Total Traffic Network for Atlanta. Additionally, he will oversee programming for the Clear Channel stations in Macon, Columbus, and LaGrange/Newnan, Georgia.

“Mike’s appointment to this position demonstrates our continued commitment to delivering listeners and advertisers the best content,” said Del Core. “His product knowledge and his ability to manage talent make him an easy choice for this position”.

Commenting on the promotion Wheeler said, “This is an incredible opportunity. We have a terrific collection of assets in the region as well as some extremely talented programmers. I can’t wait to get started.”

Hmmmmm? will mike be another pencil pushin' tim dukes' boys club member OR should we really feel for mike and the mess he's about to inherit?

He is a sharp guy whould not come here unless he had the badge to do the job.
Notice that he answers tod Jerry Del Core and not Marc Chase.

Expect to see some management changes at the stations over the next several months.

Is this the same Mike Wheeler that was P.D. at WGST in the 80's when they were owned by the Meredith Corp. ?

Lame press release

Why is every press release by these people so similar and lame. The quotes are always the same. "Talented programmers and looking forward to getting started." Why can't people say something of substance instead or the same useless nonsense.

Dunno if he's any good or not. You can be assured he's another buddy of The Hillbilly, or he wouldn't have the job.
