Tim Horton's Faux Pas on WTNH News 8

If you can click on the video for this story on News 8's website, listen very carefully to reporter Matt Scott at the end of his piece. Either he doesn't follow hockey or he doesn't realize that the founder and namesake of this donut franchise chain died in a car accident in 1974.

At the time of his passing, there were only 40 stores in operation and I'm not clear if every store was in Canada. But don't take my word for it. Click and read for yourself.

I hate to single out Channel 8, because all the news shows are guilty of having their facts way off. However, for News 8, it's a continuous faux pas. They just seem to go from bad to worse.

In addition, the print article mentioned that Tim Hortons' slogan is "Always Fresh, Always". However, they left off the ending -- it should've been "'Always Fresh, Always Tim Hortons".

Did the elitist yuppie nerd in the report actually refer to the chain as "Timothy Horton's"? So clearly WTNH was on a quest to seek out people who are even more clueless than they are.

Very sad to see TH pull out of that region, I always enjoyed dropping by there for a GOOD cup of coffee when visiting relatives in southern New England.

I see the video piece has been replaced by a story by Bob Wilson. I wonder if that was Matt Scott's idea. If so, the dude should stick to being a weatherman.

I'm no coffee drinker, but their hot chocolate rules -- I always make a point to buy at least one (in some cases, with Timbits) when visiting Quebec on vacation, or relatives in Michigan.

I would like to see Timmies come to Florida someday -- would be perfect, as it gets alot of snowbirds every year.
