Tim Lake out at 10

Will anybody miss this guy? He was at 10 for about 20 years yet seems to have had no impact on the market, the culture...ANYTHING. I couldn't understand how he lasted as long as he did. I'm sure he's a decent person, but he never had much of a presence on the air.

Have to agree. Surprised 10 stayed with him as one of their lead anchors for as long as they did. It seems the new management at 10 is making its mark on talent. Departures, hires (new male anchors in mornings and weekends) shifts (Aditi Roy to weekend mornings! after doing weekday mornings, weekday evenings and getting a network try-out last year), and some try-outs (Vai doing news).

On the other hand, I've heard Tim Lake was one of the nicest guys in Philly TV news. I know someone who worked the assignment desk at 10 years ago when Lake was 5 pm anchor. One day, the assignment editor was in a jam: Breaking story, no reporters available. Tim Lake volunteered to cover the story even though his shift was over.

And if my memory is correct, didn't Lake rise to 6 and 11 pm anchor after Larry Mendte jumped from Channel 10 to Channel 3 where ... well, we know what happened to Mendte there.

I thought Tim Lake was around before Larry Mendte, then stayed on at 5pm but was removed from the evening newscasts altogether, only to return again to replace Mendte when Mendte left?

Lake replacing Mendte and becoming lead was low key, and his departure is also low key.

Mendte on WCAU was big promotion. Part of it was the launch of the 4pm newscast and maybe that he had more personality and linkage to NBC's Access Hollywood.
