Tim Pohlman to CBS Phoenix????

It sounds like a done deal... now... how long will it be before Dave Pratt makes his re-appearance???
CBS IF YOU KNEW IT...You'd do it. ;)

He is a great guy...CBS is very lucky to have him

Isn’t this the same Tim Pohlman who just failed at Riviera? Hell, that company is now belly up and begging the bank for air right? If so, why would CBS want him?

As noted above, Tim was a stellar GM for CBS once before, in Los Angeles at KTWV...and started his career with CBS in Washington, D.C.

My first thought when I saw this was: Gee, I thought the Phoenix cluster was on the block. I doubt they'd hire a high profile guy just to sell it off. Some companies might, but not CBS.

Lousy time to be trying to sell stations (three full-signal FMs in Denver brought CBS only $19 mil a year ago). There's way more money in running the stations right and making a profit right now than there is in cashing in. And Pohlman's track record with CBS suggests he can do that.

With Tim on board at CBS Phoenix now, does anyone know if Kris Abrams will continue with his present duties?

Yeah, and I used to be young and handsome with a full head of hair. Things change. What has Pohlman done lately? (Other than take Riviera for a dive.) Then again, he doesn’t have much to live up to. The former market manager wasn’t exactly Einstein.

The skill sets required for successfully managing a full-power FM owned by CBS and acquiring and running signal-challenged niche stations purchased just befor the economy goes south are very different.

I've met him and we have friends in common. I believe he's got the chops for both, but the economy's extraordinary and the bankers wanted a change. He'll be great at CBS.

Michael, Thanks for your insightfulness and positive comments towards Tim. The CBS cluster will do do just fine with new direction. 8)
