One major issue comes down to resources. While state & local officials made their share of mistakes a major factor is simply resources. Louisiana is te 4th poorest state in the United States, New Orleans is one of the poorest cities in the U>S (saw something along the lines that it was 63rd out of 69 cities in average income of medium & large sized cities) 30% of the city is under the poverttyy line. We aren't talking about people who have the simple access to the resources they needed. It was a major federal response melt down. The Federal response needs to be strong in any kind of disaster, but it is even more important in poorer areas where the resources on the local level simply can't match the resources in some more wealthy or ewven middle class sections of the country

Russert isn't one of those "how do you feel" type reporters. He goes for the throat if need be to get a straight answer. The electronic and print media needs more people like Tim Russert. Reporters who ask tough questions and refuses to accept someone talking out of both sides of their mouth.
