Tim Russert's Son On "PTI" This Week

Today on "Pardon The Interruption" on ESPN, I was greeted with somewhat of a surprise: Anthony Reali, who usually delivers the "errors and omissions" the hosts may have made at the end of the half-hour show leading into "SportsCenter" (this segment is not seen on the ESPNews reply), is on vacation this week, so host Michael Wilbon introduced "our intern Luke" to do Reali's duty. It's been widely known in the wake of the death of his father, Tim, that Luke Russert has been interning at ESPN. I actually thought it was a nice touch. I'm assuming he'll be subbing for Reali all week long.

I caught a bit of "Horn" yesterday, and the guy hosting, didn't get his name, but he looked like the estranged twin brother of Craig Kilborn. With that said, I'd doubt they'd hand Luke the "Horn" gig this week, being as he is, with all due respect, an intern.

Also, on Tuesday's show, he was introduced as "Luke Russert from the 60/20" - I guess "the 60/20" is his website or something...

He may be an intern at ESPN, but Luke Russert has a regular sports radio show on XM with James Carville (yes, that James Carville) that they've been doing for a couple of years now, so he's not exactly new at broadcasting. It's called 60/20 Sports and is intended to present sports from the views of two generations: 60-something Carville and 20-something Russert. Clever, huh?

Wow, that sounds like a helluva show! I bet Carville knows more about sports than Dennis Miller!

By the way, yesterday on "PTI", Luke hosted the "Odds Makers" segment that Tony Reali usually handles (not as much pizzazz as Reali during that segment, but it's his first time doing that, so I'll cut him some slack). Also interesting was the fact that Tony Kornheiser "returned" to the show from vacation - and it's in quotes because alongside Wilbon, it was Wilbon who was the main anchor for the day, and not Tony; it was also Tony's only appearance of the week, he said. Probably concentrating on the upcoming football season.

Usually during the Summer its rarely if ever that either Kornheiser or Wilbon are there for the full week. Usually there isnt much sports to talk about during the summer other than baseball. When the olympics start in 8 days we probly will see Tony and Michael there almost daily

On MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olberman, He announced that Luke Russert will be a reporter for NBC News at the Dem/Repub Conventions this summer. Getting the view from young'uns.
