TIMBERLAKE & GAGA: HIGHEST SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE FINALE SINCE 2004

It was incredibly dumb and stilted. Even the news was dumb. Worst show of the year.

They must have cut a skit last minute because there were about 4 minutes at the end of the show that were vacant. Got a full credit roll and then the band. Same on both coasts?

They had me thinking that they weren't going to do The Barry Gibb Talk Show sketch. It ended up being the last sketch of the night. Same old stuff as always, with the twist of Robin (Timberlake) using a pair of medallions as paddles to get Barry's heart going again. Predictable, but I still enjoyed it. The digital short with Lady Gaga and the mothers was the best short they've done all year, in my opinion! :)

Since it was the season finale, I suspect they wanted to do the full credit roll. I didn't time it (and already deleted from DVR), but it didn't seem 4 minutes long. The credits ran in full and then the show ended (west coast version).

Only the cranky curmudgeons will troll that the show was awful. Those are the same folks who haven't liked anything SNL since 1975. Watch the DVD of those first year shows in full. They were mostly awful. It is what it is. Some hits, some misses. Really bad sound orchestration for The Gaga, though she was much better than expected in her comedy three skits.

I was wondering why "Barry Gibbs" was trending on social networking late Saturday night. I thought there might have been a Bee Gees reunion. ::)

...............just goes to show. You can get a large audience to watch almost anything
but that doesn't make it any good. 8)

I watched it and was incredibly underwhelmed. Not one giggle through the whole thing. Many of you stuck it out far longer than I did; I flipped it off for good after that unfunny Weekend Update.

They could, and should, do better.

The stand-up comics on Comedy Central that were on at the same time were far better. Both the "Cash Cab" guy and Billy Gardell were really good. Actually, let me alter that: Billy Gardell was hilarious!! The Cash Cab guy was pretty good too. SNL was not.

The difference in opinions is interesting. For the most part, I find SNL boring these days, and don't even bother to DVR it if I'm not home. I've caught 3 or 4 shows this year though, mostly because I like some of the cast - particularly Kristin Wiig. On the whole, I think this season has been better than the past dozen or so years.

I found this week's show uneven, but funny in spots. Gaga did a good job in her skits, and I'm always impressed by how talented Justin Timberlake is -singing, dancing, comedy, drama - he does it all well, IMO.

What I have come to dislike about SNL over the last several years, is that they have no idea when to end a sketch. It will start out pretty funny and they kill it by letting it go way too long. It's like the start it and have no idea how to get out of it.
