Time Chime

Roddy, I'm old enough to remember the WABC time chime. And wasn't the female voice on the Weatherchron service Jane Barbie?

Mike you should tell

Mike you would be the tell all of WDOL it became WWID 106.7 Mhz a Dee Rivers station. The brothers started WEAS later went on as WGUN,"The Big Gun in Dixie" there transmitter is inside I-285 below Snap-finger Rd Decatur, Ga if you can inform us all about The Rivers family Mike ?

I forgot something

I'd heard that the weather announcer lady had worked for Delta Airlines

This is what I always use... https://time.gov/
I still have my Junghans Mega I bought in Carmel, CA back in 1992. It is tuned to WWVB. $400 back then. Amazing how cheap you can get atomic clocks now. They work very poorly here in Atlanta so far from Fort Collins, CO.

Radio reply

Id used to go to an auto auction off us hwy 78 in Loganville Ga and the weathercron announcer was name Fred Covington.

Mike I'd asked

You would be the guy to asked about,The Rivers I believe Dee owned WEAS am now WGUN in Decatur Ga as well they owned WDOL now WWID FM Athens Ga

It was WJSR (James S. Rivers) in Athens, the former WDOL-FM and later WAGQ, now WFSH.

WWID were the original calls for 106.7 in Gainesville, owned by Jacobs Media at the time.

Thanks John

I said before I got a buyer for the old Gates FM transmitter that WAGQ had I was payed $1000. for my help by then eng. I couldn't rember he's name but he moved the FM to were it is now in Loganville on 505 meters tower with WWID FM

Modern atomic clocks reference to WWV at 60 Khz. So that's long wave. It re-corrects itself at 2 AM if necessary.
I have one built by LaCrosse Technology purchased from Ebay for $20.
BUT Heathkit made one years ago that referenced to 5, 10, and 15 Mhz. frequencies which would be short wave.

Time Chime .....

We all have a cell phone.Time is to the second on them. What to need for more? Well NBC did and still dose I think do a Bing ,bang, Bong at the hour.

Barry there is on the web four pages of Audicron mech. And as I said Fred Convington did voice on telephone answ. mech. adds for company in Atlanta,he might be one judge on Perry Mason Show on METV
