Time for a Dayton board?

I have nothing against the Dayton radio posts that seem to dominate this board lately, but neither do I care what is going on in Dayton radio. Does anyone else agree that maybe it's time for them to move out of mom and dad's basement and graduate to having their OWN page?

The downside is that when Dayton stops posting here, this board will be in coma mode... seems there's nothing on the Cincinnati radio scene to discuss lately.

Sorry, but I disagree.
The Cincinnati/Dayton metro area will soon be classified as one larger metropolital statistical area (like DFW) beginning in 2010. Also, most of the radio stations can be heard in both cities and in-between.
Since that's the case, I like the convenience of going to a single board to read about happenings in both radio markets.
Maybe it's time to change the name of this board to Cincinnati/Dayton? Just a thought.

What I find astonishing is that a market vet like Pistol Pete was moved from B105 to The Wolf and there was not a single mention of that on this board. But some station in Dayton, that I can't pick up where I live, starts stunting and there's 70 something replies in one night. Arbirtron is not going to go with Cinci/Dayton. That is the US Census Bureau. It will have no impact on the respective market sizes. So I agree, someone take the bull by the horns and start a Dayton Board.

No offense, But what is to discuss about a country jock moving to a station that gets no attention in the market. It's not like they changed formats like a heritage station in Dayton.

I was thinking the same thing. Z93 has been around for over 20 years. The Wolf is a flop. B105 to The Wolf? If I'm not mistaken, aren't they owned by the same company? So that would mean, that is perfectly normal.

A whole lot more than the posturing we've read since Thursday. Throw out enough speculation and something is bound to stick.

If you split into two different boards, I believe you have the same situation x 2.

I'm not sure that the Dayton market alone would be enough to sustain a viable and interesting board.

You have already pointed-out the same situation on the Cincinnati board. Why compound an existing problem?

As other posters have mentioned, many stations can be heard in both markets.

I listen to WLW as much, or more, than I listen to any Dayton radio station.

I find myself listening primarily to XM these days (including WLW), as nothing current in Dayton radio is interesting to me.

Dayton & Cinci as one board wouldn't do anything. Dayton would be dead. Cinci would be dead. Together is a big combo. However, I think the name should be retitled as "Cincinnati/Dayton"

Maybe that a heritage jock on a heritage station was moved to a flanker in the same company. I guarantee that if the same situation happened in Dayton there would be multiple posts about it on this board. So, no offense but there's plenty there that could be discussed. Was this a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul? Are they trying to make The Wolf more of a player? What other changes are in store on Reading Road? Will they keep The Wolf a flanker when the power increase happens or change formats? Will more jocks from the B be sent howling on The Wolf? Do you agree with the change? Those are just a few that come to mind.

Didn't I say that in my original post?
1 combo board - "Cincinnati/Dayton" makes more sense than 2 separate ones - for many logical reasons (which some of you find very difficult to understand given the fact that's there is less than 40 miles between most (not all) of the broadcast towers for both cities).
Who cares if you listen to XM - I do and also use my Roku (internet radio).
The basic questions are should there be (a.) one radio board for Cincinnati and Dayton separately or (b.) leave everything "as is"?
Not rocket science folks.....

I cannot see how merging the Dayton market with Cincinnati would be of any benefit to Dayton. In 1985 Springfield merged-in with the Dayton market and Springfield never benefitted from that either while most Springfield stations ultimately pulled their stakes moving to Dayton leaving WULM and WKSW as the last ones in town. As much as I hate to say this for the town which gave us John Legend...Springfield is not what it used to be. Dayton is heading down that same route thanks to Mead-Westvaco and DDN moving away from downtown,Delphi's troubles and the Snidely Whiplash loansharks taking over and making it a ghetto.

Cincy's northward sprawl towards Middletown and Centerville is no doubt inevitable sucking up what little scenery is left along I-75...so sad!

I agree that this board should be renamed Cincinnati/Dayton. It makes sense.

As to the Pistol Pete to The Wolf thing. The Wolf rated below The Rebel in the Cincy Summer ratings...and if I was Pistol Pete I'd be pretty pissed. And WTF is up with replacing him with Madison Taylor? Seriously? Madison Taylor? She sounds like a phone sex operator. Why replace one pukey announcer with another? Why keep the very talented Big Dave on nights? They have better weekend options they could have selected over her...it boggles my mind.

My head is twisted up like a pretzel. I got a pretzel in my head!

It would be great if people would READ the messages in detail before responding.
No one is advocating the merging of 2 distinct radio markets - Cincinnati & Dayton - only for the purposes of this board...period.
The only "merging" will be done by the U.S. government in terms of area population (one Metropolitian Statistical Area instead of 2 - will be in the Top 10 in the country with nearly 3 million people!)
It has nothing to do with radio and television markets - they stay separate, at least in our lifetimes.

This question gets asked every time there are a lot of Dayton posts, and as far as I know R-I's management team intends to keep Dayton posts on the Cincy board.

I think there should be a Xenia board so we can discuss WBZI and Ferlin Husky 24/7
