I was looking at Woggle's playlist thanks to the other post and I don't know which is worse... WOGL or WMGK.

I guess you could consider the repetition and/or the type of music that is being played on both stations. At this point in time it seems that both stations cover approximately the same years (late 60's into early 80's). WOGL is more R&B oriented and WMGK is more rock (so-called) oriented. Those are the only differences that I see. They are both horrible and painful to listen to.

I seriously can't decide which station is worse, so I figured we'd settle it here.

Thoughts?

If those two stations have the same level of repitition (and I'm not sure if they do), then WMGK is worse because you expect some repitition on a station whose heritage is (or is supposed to be) in Top 40.

I don't know if it's the exact same level of repetition but it seems like it is. When I'm tortured with it at work there are no surprises and it sounds like the same songs every second day at most.

I don't know who's worse, but I've been listening to OGL today for a few hours, and I have to say, they don't sound as bad as theyir playlist looks on paper. I haven't heard any songs that really make me want to change the dial. They have very little depth, but their breadth of music is a bit wider than I expected. Much to my surprise, I appreciate their 80s tracks quite a bit. I think they provide some freshness to their otherwise burned-to-a-crisp playlist.

That, I think, is OGL's real problem. Their choice of music style is fine, it's that they play the same songs over and over. Expand the playlist, while keeping focused to the styles and era they want to cover, and they would be a much better station.

Of course, today is the first time in, well, years that I've listened to the station for more than 10 minutes (with the exception of the Elvis and Beatles shows on the weekends). If I gave them two more days I'd probably be bored to death with them.

As for MGK, their HD-1 playlist sucks to be sure, but their HD-2 is great! If they added more Deep Trax tunes to the main playlist, they'd be my favorite station again (they were my favorite until a couple of years ago).

Funny but I actually think MGK is sounding much better these days, their playlist seems much more expanded.
Example for a while the only Zep cut they would roll out was Fool in Rain, now I am hearing a good selection of the Zep library!

i agree...before the hawk went off the air, mgk sucked... over the last year, they have definitly improved... but 105.7 is still better

The previous few posts have lead me to believe that WOGL is worse than WMGK.

There's a freakin' surprise. Thanks everyone!
