Time for some Electro-Pop and House to touch the charts

This morning while eating breakfast I was thumbing through a couple of weeks old Entertainment Weekly (3/5/10 issue) and saw that they we doing a article where Pop programmers Pick the Hits that are coming soon to your radio. Four Pop radio programmers each picked 3 songs that they feel are the hits that you'll be hearing on the radio soon.

Believe it or not, some picked songs that are Dance (or Dance Influenced):

Z100's Sharon Dastur picked Taio Cruz - Break Your Heart

Tony Florentino from WNCI in Columbus, OH picked Gary Go - Black & White Days. Gary is a "dance" artist from the UK.

But most surprising for me was my old friend Kid Kelly who is currently one of the heads of Pop Programming over at Sirius XM. His pick? deadmau5 - Ghosts N Stuff. I've never been one to know Kid as a "dance" guy but his quote on this song is: "It's time for some of that electro-pop and house to touch the charts."

This just goes to show you that some of our music is starting to get to the point that the Pop guys are noticing. This is a very important step in getting the music to the next level.

Actually that is usually about how long it takes a record to go from the underground culture to the pop masses. I just wonder if the label is trying to work it pop. If not, then it will never go.

"Ghosts" appeared on the top 40 Top Hits USA...so I imagine they are pushing it for pop

What songs would you try to push for top 40 next?? mine: Plumb Hang On , I will be here Tiesto, Morgan Page I Will Fight ,
Before I get crucified I know these songs will not be added to CHR I'm just saying I could see them doing well.

This should be another good year for uptempo dance music.I read that even Dr. Dre is working on a dance album right now.Hopefully, nothing comes out of left field and derails this latest dance trend.

Sorry JP, but Gary Go could never be considered dance. He is straight up AAA/AC.

Justin,
I have to say that I'm not familiar with the artist but they clearly called him a "techno" artist in the article so I used his name because of it. I'll have to do a search for his work and see what they are talking about.

PS - I've been informed that deadmau5 is a pop priority for Ultra.
