Time To Mix Things Up At Mix 96.9??

I think Mix is in need of a little shake up. Their playlist is very predictable, and the music is getting stale if you ask me. They seem to perform well in the ratings, but maybe a shift to more modern hot ac would be a fresh change. Maybe change the slogan and drop the 80's songs from the playlist. Focus on throwing a few more currents in there. They are not a true Hot AC station either, at least when you take a look at the charts. They do not play a lot of the songs that are currently on the Hot AC chart. Why do they not play newer songs from Lifehouse instead of only "You And Me and "Hanging By A Moment". They don't play First Time, Whatever It Takes, or even Broken. These songs you can find on almost all of the Hot AC stations across the country. Maybe throw in the new song from Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat, and Pink's new single, "Sober". Just some ideas, I think they need to change things up a little bit. They don't need to have "Paralyzer" from Finger 11 in their top 5 on their playlist!

1) They do play Lifehouse - "Broken" as well as "Whatever it Takes", they play Plain White T's - "1, 2, 3, 4", they play "Sober" (at night only I believe), as well as many other new songs.

2) They play enough new music as it is, perhaps a few MORE 80s and 90s would be a good idea, open up the playlist a little more... over the last few years they have tightened it substantially. Why in the world would you want them to eliminate the 80s/90s? They already got rid of the totally 80s lunch a couple years back, which was a mistake--they even scrapped the 90s at 9 BRIEFLY, though that is back.

3) Modern AC, which is ostensibly an alternative format these days is great, but I think Mix is a decent station just in need a few minor adjustments. The imaging is bad, the voiceguy they brought on a year ago is flat and uninteresting compared to the previous voice. The promos are old and stale, bleh. The playlist could certainly stand to be opened up as I mentioned above and add a bit more personality to the station--their jocks are really contained... let 'em be personable for God's sake.

We could all thank voicetracking for that. Even some of the greatest, most entertaining on-air jocks-- and I'd rather not say who-- are missing SO MUCH in the entertainment, personality, content/information department when voicetracked. It's a shame to hear what once was, with what is now.

Bryan Allen is probably the best soundning DJ at Mix right now. Somehow he still manages to project personality and has fun on the air.

I agree with much of what KMGX wrote. The playlist needs to be opened up a bit.

Personally, I think Mix sounds great. Seems like the 80s are just right - not too much, but just enough.

I do disagree with Lauren regarding the voicetracking thing. If jocks don't have has much personality with Voicetracking, then that's on the jock, not voicetracking. It just means the jock needs to make a bit more effort to display that energy and personality.

From the times I've listened to Mix, it seems like the personality is there... what's their line-up these days? Weekend jocks?

I don't fully disagree with you, and I do think jocks try. If there's any personality at all, it isn't the same personality (which I know sounds weird saying), but instead of their full potential of being live and in-the-moment, too many times it comes off cheesy. It just isn't the same.

And don't forget everything else you lose: useful information for the ride home (traffic, weather, time reminders), up-to-date Valley information, content, entertainment.

IreneCaraFan-- wanna make an aircheck trade soon? :)
