Time Warner Cable Upgrading San Antonio Network?

Cable workers are in our area installing some new equipment in people's backyards. The workers won't say anything. Does anyone know what they're doing?

Depends on what the equipment is. Last spring our local cable company was running new overhead lines in our neighborhood. When I questioned them about it I was told that the lines had been chewed up by squirrels, and they were replacing it with new cabling that has squirrel resistant insulation.

They are replacing the module in the Amplifiers that control the attenuation during temperature swings.

For TWC to upgrade San Antonio they would have to change out almost all of all the amplifiers and some of the directional couplers on the lines the system only goes to 750MHz which is being pushed out to 783MHz which is amazing for a 750MHz system. TWC Dallas got upgraded to 860MHz between 2006-2008 and they went in and replaced all of 750MHz/550MHz gear and installed new nodes now we are running up to 861MHz.

I believe that TWC wants to use channel 70 in San Antonio for digital services so they are replacing the Automatic Gain Control modules with newer ones that do not use that frequency which are probably digital modules that allows TWC to not have an analog channel on 70 for amplifier balancing.

Also there are some node splits going on in San Antonio soon as well.

Is this the reason why that I get pixelation of channels above the basic service tier? I used to have Time Warner and TV Land and other channels above 21 had pixelation so bad, which even shows up on the shows I recorded off those channels. I since canceled Time Warner as part of cutting the cord back in July 2010. But was wondering does that have something to do with it. My friend lives near Anderson Mill and has Digital Cable and his picture comes in fine on all the channels. The bedroom has RG-59 connected to a jack in the living room which you then hookup to another jack in the living room which is connected to outside and that is a RG-6 cable. (I had to go to home depot and purchase 2 Dual Coaxial Cable Jacks and bury a splitter inside the wall) I even tried using the bare cable from the box outside that was in my wall to connect to the TV set, with the same problem so the problem is on their line?

Probably explains the digital pixelization on some of the channels. Plus the awesome stereo sound on every last channel of the basic line-up...instead of certain channels.
