Time Warner QAM

So, I've got myself a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1800 which has a QAM tuner in it (for my PC). This allows me to receive digital and HD signals from Time Warner Cable (Finger Lakes) without paying an additional fee or subscribing to digital cable. Usually I can receive the local affiliates in Rochester and Syracuse, however, I noticed earlier this week that the Elmira TV stations are on my line-up now. I assume that this is some sort of an error considering how distant of a market Elmira is. Of course now that I've mentioned it, someone will probably take notice and remove these stations.

Shhhhh! Don't spoil the fun! :D

Yes, the three Elmiras (WETM on 83-3, WYDC on 83-4 and WENY on 83-5) have been on TW Rochester QAM for a few months now. My understanding of the "why" is that this is the backhaul from the Rochester hub to a former Adelphia system that spans the Yates/Schuyler county line - and since the Schuyler portion is within the Elmira market, they need to get those three stations somehow. I'm waiting to see if WENY's new CBS subchannel shows up as well when it launches in a few days. Not counting on it, though (but it's been fun the last few days to watch the branding on WENY's newscasts change from "Newschannel 36" to "WENY-TV News" as they get ready to add the CBS.)

QAM here on the Rochester system also brings in the Finger Lakes access channels (FLTV, etc.)
