Time warner sucks in Cincinnati, OH

I hate how they have not piked up the local channel forTheCW yet. Come Next week if they dont have it thier is going to be alot of pissed off ppl becayse they cant see the premires of thier shows they used to watch on TheWb and UPN. I am one of the ppl that will be pissed because i watch Smallville. I hope when and if they add it it goines on the the analog basic tier not the digital tier since alot of ppl dont have digital cable even though it is on a local digital channel.

Who in Cincinnati is supposed to carry it? Low-power 25? 64?

Neither.

CW in Cincinnati will be on a subchannel of CBS affiliate WKRC/12's digital signal as "CinCW".

25's sister station "UPN 38" lost out in the CW sweepstakes and will be going independent when UPN goes away. 64 went with MyNetworkTV early, most likely due to the fact that Sinclair owns them and didn't want to pay for CW. :D

Here's WKRC's page on CW (warning - embedded CW promo video ahead):

The CinCW is available on both Direct TV and Insight Cable Channels 25. You can also watch if you have a Digital Television with a Digital Tuner.

So, What about Time Warner?
Unfortunately, Time Warner has not made The CinCW available. We’re working on it but you can also help. If you are concerned about not being able to get your favorite shows contact Time Warner and request an “analog channel on the basic tier” for The CinCW.

The new MNT subchannel of Youngstown's ABC affiliate has the same problem with Time Warner. TWC has placed it in the digital tier (534), but WYTV wants an analog/basic channel. The other two major cable operators in the Youngstown market have done that.

We just got MyTV on WCTX-TV/DT channel 59/D 39 of New Haven. Comcast channel 9 in New Britain and Hartford. It's part of the reason they call themselves "MyTV 9". Comcast does not carry their digital channel. No big loss since I haven't watched anything from that network. Once the Yankees leave WCTX, I won't be watching the station anymore.

The CW Network will be on WTXX-TV/DT channel 20/D 12 of Waterbury-Hartford, Tribune-owned and operated under an LMA with WTIC-TV/DT (FOX) channel 61/D 31 of Hartford. I had been receiving WTXX-DT with my TV's QAM tuner ("20-2" is The Tube!). However, I haven't seen it on the tuner the last two weeks and I may have to receive the signal off an indoor antenna (the DT signal on 12 is quite weak, due to CBS 12 over in Providence, RI).

Time Warner Cable and The CW

Am I the only one who thinks its strange that Time Warner Cable isn't lending a hand to a fledgling network their parent company owns a stake in? Not only in Cincinnati, but there's no CW affiliate in Honolulu as of yet (another TWC market). If I recall correctly, they weren't hesitant to create cable-only channels in their markets which The WB didn't have carriage in.

That is odd, Eric.

The only thing I can see is that TWC lets its local groups run pretty autonomously, which is similar, say, to local Clear Channel radio stations cancelling Premiere shows in place of local shows.

Didn't WBQC-CA in Cincinnati always have problems getting Time-Warner to add their station full-time? I wonder what will happen to them once they go independent? Will Time-Warner drop them entirely?

OMW has a point above with WSTR. Why didn't they choose the network that was at least better guaranteed a little bit of success over the My Network TV trainwreck? Maybe Sinclair Cincinnati sees the potential of the network folding early so they can become independent. The channel kicked ass as "Star 64" back in the early 90s.

All too true...it's mentioned on their station's history web page. It basically took a lot of kicking and screaming (so to speak) to get TWC Cincinnati to add WBQC even part-time (just during the evenings). I am suprised though that WBQC didn't end up with My Network and WSTR taking The CW, it probably would have made better sense, but I'm not a programming executive...what do I know?

It's still mostly preview programming tonight, according to a CW ad run last night on WTXX-TV/DT (CW) channel 20/D12 of Waterbury/Hartford.
