TIMES UP for Timeless Favorites

As of Sunday afternoon (Valentine's Day) - WTBF Troy has switched to the True Oldies Channel. Wonder how other area stations will respond - following suit or trying something altogether new.

WCRL in Oneonta is still doing Timeless. Maybe they taped it and they're going to play it over and over.

WMFC 1360 (Monroeville) is simulcasting its WMFC-FM 99.3 offspring, both utilizing Dial Global's "Kool Gold".

Okay, lessee, going through my list, that leaves WOZK/WOAB-FM Ozark, WABF Fairhope, WRJX Jackson (MYOL), WBTG Sheffield, WNZZ Montgomery and WTLM Opelika as being standards. The only one I have listed with Timeless Favorites is WTLM, though.

Anyone know about these?

As of 1:15 AM, WCRL has finally dropped timeless. It is still the same style music however, but they are airing the old 60's era WCRL jingles. on www.wcrl1570.com , they have a listen live link for your listening pleasure - if it can be called that:)

Update: I guess they've became a soft oldies/country hybrid. Think timeless combined with real country. After hearing a song by carly simon, I'm now hearing George Strait's "Baby Blue." Now, it's followed by the Supremes.

I think WBTG uses "in house" music, meaning old reel to reel. The few times I've listened I've never heard a song ID or weather. WNZZ was doing the America's Best Music, the last I heard.

and i don't understand how there could be a market for this stuff... i guess there must be or it wouldn't be on the air... but really.

Great South Wireless, never one to pick a single format and stick with it. This reminds me of the early days of The Peach, where country and oldies intermixed for a time. The feed is terribly out of phase, yuck.

Skipper, there's still a pretty decent market for the really old stuff, but advertisers just don't believe in the power of old folks' money. It's a shame, because personally as a younger person I do enjoy the standards from time to time.
