Timing for WHYM format flip?

As of Monday morning 8/21, no changes in WKAP's format...the promotion that's been airing for several weeks regarding their "oldies cruise" is now the "farewell to WKAP oldies cruise".

I'm wondering if Labor Day weekend will be the time -- with Tuesday, 9/5 being the first regulr weekday with the enw format.

IIRC WODE went to "The River" en route to "The Hawk" over Labor Day weekend a bunch of years ago -- 2001?

They quickly went to 'the Hawk' because Clear Channel dropped them a note letting them (Nassau) know that if they didn't stop using a CC 'owned' moniker they would come after their bank account. I guess Nassau had 'the Hawk' in reserve just in case CC would call, which they did, and Nassau had to dump 'the River' and begin using 'the Hawk'.

All those promotional items were then promptly buried in a landfill somewhere. Too bad....

Timing for WKAP change to WYHM

It's scheduled for Monday, September 11 -- and no, there's nothing sinister about the timing.

According to the Morning Call newspaper, WKAP has to fulfill contractual obligations with station-related events. I presume those obligations end on or before 9/10.
